You could do a wall sconce on the right wall next to the vanity, or a single hanging pendant between the vanity and the toilet. Most powder rooms are fine with less "working" light than full bathrooms.

I am not a fan of sconce lighting and why not just a great ceiling light in a PR It can create real drama and honestly better than wall lights that can create weird shadows in small spaces .

@Jenny and @Patricia Colwell Consulting, this will be my primary bathroom and will need good lighting for makeup and such (Thus the two sconces or pendants). There will also be a light in the center of the ceiling.

Lyn's idea is a great one, as is Patricia's - sconces for makeup, overhead for general use.

In one powder room I have a triple light over the mirror and a decorative pendant on the ceiling. In the other powder room I have sconces on either side of the mirror and a decorative pendant on the ceiling.

There isn't just one way of doing this. Do what works best for you.

@chispa i’m asking people’s opinion because my concern is (1) that i may not have enough space to the right of the vanity to accommodate a fixture and (2) that if I have pendants or sconces, they would be too close together.

Sconces and pendants look nice when there's sufficient space for them. Go with the single light.

If you're not sure, mock it up with paper towel tubes or pool noodles and see how it feels.

You said powdwer room thta is not a prinmary do you have a shower or tub in there ? That changes everything. I never put a bath bar over a n oval mirror and a good LED ceiling light will light the whole spac e Look at some good LED ceiling lights in 4000K you will have plenty of light

Light above. Pendents and sconces need to have enough negative space round them to look balanced. Yours will look cramped and make the room feel even smaller than it is. A great overhead light will do the trick.

You don't have to limit yourself to looking at bathroom vanity lights. I've used in small bathrooms - single sconce above the mirror or a nice centered chandelier and nothing above the mirror because it is a small room and one overhead fixture can sometimes be enough light.

If your look is very contemporary, you can also do one wall light between the toilet and mirror area. But, I suspect your set up is more traditional.
