I live in an historic beach town for over 30 years. There are still a few places that I always drive by and think that I should visit.

eld, When DH was growing up, he and his mother used to take days to be "tourists" in NYC. So many nyers have never even been to the statue of liberty. I had a friend who lived in my area for 5 years and she knew so much more and had been so many places even though I'd been here all my life.

eld, when I was a high school junior, the teachers went on strike from September until after Thanksgiving. NYC made the subways and attractions free, and my friends and I went someplace new every day. We went to the Statue of Liberty, and climbed up to the crown. The security guard asked us if we would like to climb the ladder to go up in the torch, and we did. I don't think they allowed that back then or now. Our other challenge was to ride every subway line from first stop to last stop. We did them all!

Faftris, I grew in Brooklyn and used the subways all the time. I rember as a teen missing my stop and having to figure out how to get back.

Sometimes it wasn’t as easy as just crossing over.

Oly, I love fortune cookies. my youngest does too. For one of her birthdays while away at a semester abroad I had special cookies made with notes from her friends. My idea was that she would open the first one and realize…….but the company put a packing slip with all the messsages and she saw that first! Still it was fun

My DH and I have a running joke about fortune cookies we bought on the streets of China Town. The seller told us these are the best fortune cookies made by her cousin.

Whenever fortune cookies come into the picture DH and I always comment they are not as good as the cousins. And actually that is always true.
