A friend and I were talking about how neither of us had been to or heard of a traditional church wedding, or one with with an ordained officiant, in ages. Even the two of the last three bar mitzvahs were not in a synagogue, but at a secluded beach shelter, and incorporated some non-traditional but important-to-the-family-elements.

Happy for you and happy for them ... and you have more family to love and enjoy, a beautiful one too!

You two lookso much alike, it’s uncanny, only the hair color is different and you are both beautiful ❤️ This is my favorite kind of wedding also, where the intent is to enjoy the wedding and being with each other. I love that the little boys were there, children bring such life and promise to wedding celebrations, it’s sad so many people ban them from receptions nowadays. They are adorable, and your new dress is perfect for you and the occasions… and how wonderful it is that you are well and recovered and that they all have you back. DD also had a small outdoor house wedding but she did it at her own house. It was a surprising amount of work for Mom! If DD2 wants a house wedding I am going to suggest a VRBO.

I love weddings like this. My DD got married at the courthouse and we weren't there. We were planning a wedding reception and the costs were escalating without even trying hard. DH and I offered to give them cash instead of a reception. They accepted and used it as a down payment on their house. That summer we had a wedding celebration with close family at our lake house. Bathing suits, BBQ and a cupcake tower for dessert. It was fabulous. She did change into a pretty dress for some pictures.

Congrats on the wedding, a new DIL and a wedding everyone enjoyed! Glad you wore the dress -- I don't think you were overdressed at all and now the dress will always feel comfortable and happy.
