I'm sure a certified kitchen and bath designer could handle the job - a professional designer not a cabinet salesperson. A friend of mine is a CMKBD and she does many projects that extend beyond the kitchen/bath.

General contractors manage construction (think project planning, managing subcontractors, materials, permitting and compliance). They have no design credentials, although they can be talented, experienced problem solvers. It would be ideal if you found a reputable contractor and got a designer reference from him/her. Ask your friends and neighbors.

We live in the St. Louis area, and we hired a man who does general maintenance/construction work. He sent us to a business called Hoods that has two locations in the St. Louis area. Hoods offers on sight design services, and they designed our laundry room utilizing their in stock cabinets, countertops, etc. looks beautiful!

I'm capable of Google searching, of course. I guess I was asking more along the lines of is there a certification board for KD's and can you do a search through them rather than a random web search, and how am I supposed to know they're being truthful -- lots of folks lie about certifications or twist language enough that it sounds like they're certified, but aren't. Would rather go the certification source to check, if possible. I know nothing about this, whereas I'm sure lots of folks on the boards do.
