How should I decorate my dining table?

Hello! Our dining chairs finally arrived so now I need assistance on what to put on the table for everyday. A large low bowl? Vase with flowers? Table runner or no? I tried playing around with some options I had on hand. Your assistance is appreciated!

I also thought about spray painting the light fixture gold…thoughts?

With a smooth darker surface I would want some texture and contrast - not necessarily this but the idea

(I love the rubber crochet bowls from Neo but likely a bit too contemporary) - FWIW I like the Chandy as is

There is a problem with the height of your drapery panels in this room. To correct it I'd recommend you install a fake roman shade of some type to change the proportion of the drapery panels.

The basket la_la posted is nice...maybe filled with seasonal fruit. Mini pumpkins would be nice for the upcoming season. Another option might be a wood (dough) bowl or pedestaled bowl. You can use them for holiday items, too, such as the last photo here.

I like the round bowl or tray. You could put candles in the tray. I like the idea of painting the light fixture gold to match your curtain rods. Your room is very pretty.

I like the bowl of orchids. The fake flowers are too much with your floral drapes. No runner.

I like the height of your chairs-may I ask where you got them? I also like the color of your light as is. Pretty room.

Concentrate on a rug for the room.

This below as you were shown above.....

    and add a RUG.!!

Even a chunky textured sisal, given the pattern at the window

Frankly, I would have done a rug, before I put the pattern at the windows: ) so as not to be boxed in.

What is in the foreground we can't see? Is that a kitchen out of view?

Round and tall object - round pedestal bowl. No runner. Agree that you’d benefit from faux shades to cover blank space above windows. Otherwise a very nice space.

JAN - the curtains were in place when we moved in and seemed too nice to replace.

From where the photo is taken is a lounge/seating area. The chair you see is the ones we replaced…didn’t mean for it to be in the photo. To the right of the dining table is the entry.

IMO a deeper wall paint color would improve the appearance ........since everything in the room is revolving around the drapery panels.

I am more practical than many and don't like anything too big that it interferes with passing food or having cross table conversations. I generally use more practical items on a nice wooden tray or lazy susan. Beautiful salt and pepper shakers, a pretty napkin holder, and a small vase or candle.

My sister has a flower vase arrangement with the test tube vases and buys fresh flowers every week for her little vases. Beautiful, but I know I would have dead flowers displayed more often than live flowers. Maybe after retirement

Really just looking for ideas to put ON the table. I appreciate the other suggestions but not looking to paint or add shades, rugs, etc.

I like Beverly’s suggestion - something round, pretty and able to hold flowers or greenery.

So. Every week when you grocery shop, you buy a single flower/ single color in multiple bunches.

With two water changes, proper trimming to fit a vase, they will last until the next trip.

Add a couple pillar candles and done.

It's the internet. You get the ideas beyond what you ask, many of which would enhance that room. Which of course, you didn't ask: ). so you Goggle

I agree with RedRyder, the round bowl with orchids was lovely. If you don't want to do real, some artificial can look good.

I would also keep it low-ish, such as in Jan’s second example.

You're not looking for the additional ideas, but we see how much better the room can look. It's not going to be fixed by what you place on the table.
