I did buy a 8 foot olive tree for the right corner of room.

    Balance is key.

Bring home items to test combinations and what you actually add depends on what you are drawn to. Lots of inspirstion on line if needing help.

An arrangement of three orange pumpkins with a scattering of colorful gourds would be an attention getter. Add a lamp. This photo shows battery candles for drama.

The mirror is the pop. Follow Maureen’s advice,

The mirror is the pop here. You don't need too many stars in this show, just a few more supporting roles.

I'd place baskets on the bottom, or stacks of chunky oversized books. Then one large plant on the left with sizable foliage.

I'm not sure the mirror you selected is the best size for this location.

I'm not loving the mirror. It is too big for the spot. same with the console.

It seems very crowded. How about a photo of the whole room? is it a great room? dining room?

Do you have a bigger wall you can put it, so it's the focal point. A mirror would reflect something dynamic.

yeah sorry but that mirror is too much muchness. It looks like a spider web plus it's too big. Even the console looks too big there but for sure the mirror is.

Maybe move it to the right-side wall & add a lamp or tall vase with branches.

I agree more pics needed…showing the size of the room and views from both ends looking toward the center…then decide if you want a theme or an eclectic decor…

Color would liven things up red or turquoise come to mind without seeing the rest of the space. The mirror does not float my boat, but if you like it, it’s your home

I do think the dark floors can be a challenge to keep clean with the dark color…as well as out of character in this style of home

Beautiful wood paneling! And I appreciate your combining that beautiful golden oak with black that makes the wood glow. Gold or polished brass would augment it, as well as iron. In your mirror, I see reflected lots of white that traditionally has worked well with that color scheme. I'd love to see your overhead light fixture. Is it iron?

On the console, stick with useful objects or nothing (to leave room for food). Maybe a platter horizontally that sometimes you would fill with appetizers or deserts. Or maybe just a couple bottles of wine and 2-4 glasses on a tray. Underneath, do you have any large serving pieces like a soup tureen or attractive fondue pot? Just keep it useful. Ask Grandma before buying stuff. She might be thrilled to find a home where something might be appreciated.

There's a lot of comments about the mirror that are more stylistic than anything. Typically, mirrors are placed on walls that don't have windows (to bounce light coming in from the windows), and art is placed between windows. It looks like you have one paneled wall to the right, and one white-pained wall opposite it. Does the other paneled wall have windows? It looks like you have great light in here. If so, this room may not want a mirror. It might want art instead.

And in any dining room, the dining area is supposed to be the focal point. You chose light chairs that create contrast to support the focal point. The console color and size are fine and support the room logistically without competing with the table area for attention.

I apolijize but given we are about to October, that mirror calls for a large spider on the table.

I like the skinnier mirror /seems to work better between the two windows. I'd like the mirror better if it were Mercury Glass -- a little less shiney, a little more vintage, not so shiney. You can make an existing mirror into Mercury Glass, but I'd practice it first on a piece of junky mirror. Maybe pick up something junky from Goodwill.

The mirror does appear to be a little big for the space, but you can soften the look of it by adding a lamp or vase with tall greenery to one side. Add a basket or something with different texture on the bottom shelf.

It takes a little bit of effort but you could also paint the frame of mirror a cream color.

    Update?

I'm going to assume that the mirror stays - maybe an heirloom, or some such. My very first impression was that it needs to be hung higher. (And I hesitate to say that bec I bet that it was an effort to hang it in the first place!) (Maybe adjust the wire, if you can.)

The new space between the mirror and table will take away some of the "presence" of the mirror + table.

I would put airy, light, objects on the table, to minimize the brown finish. And as suggested above, keep playing around with things you have or borrow, to get an idea of what works.
