Viking refrigerator - a sad warm box of disappointment

2 years ago, I spent over TEN. THOUSAND. DOLLARS. on this so-called "High End" Viking Series 7 refrigerator. You’d think for ten grand you’re getting some kind of cold-keeping masterpiece, right? WRONG. What I actually bought was a $10,000 stainless steel warm f*ing brick.**

From the first bloody day, it’s been a disaster. Doesn’t cool below 42 degrees. The freezer fan? when it's not loud as F, it's straight up broken! The ice maker? About as useful as a chocolate teapot. We’ve had TWENTY service calls. TWENTY. And guess what? Still a useless piece of sht.

Here’s my advice: if you want to burn a giant pile of cash and scream into the void while your food rots - buy Viking. If you don’t, then for the love of all that’s holy, STAY THE F* AWAY.**

Sorry you are in this unenviable position. I've never thought Viking appliances were any good. Long ago at a home show I saw their big, beautiful colored ranges. I wasn't in the market for one but thought I wanted one after that. Then I started looking into Viking quality/reliability - uh, no thanks. I've bought and sold a few houses since then. Every time I see a real estate listing touting Viking appliances I kind of chuckle and run the other way.

I recently bought a new SubZero - highly recommend. A few thousand more than Viking but the brand has an excellent reputation. Twenty years ago I saved a few thousand and bought a KitchenAid instead of SZ. No comparison. I learned my lesson and didn't make the same mistake again.

I feel your fridge rage. I hope they make it right for you - and by make it right I mean give you your money back. 20 service calls is a nightmare. I work from home and have a fairly protective dog. Having someone IN the house is both a giant PITA and also takes me away from what pays the bills. If I had to accommodate someone 20 times, I'd have a restraining order from Viking execs by now.
