What specifically do you need help with? The more detailed you are with the help that you need, the better we can assist. Are you looking to change colors, furniture, or style? What kind of changes?

If you just bought, are these your furnishings or the sellers? and please show the fourth wall .

I need help on furniture placement or ideas in the "living room" area that is only slightly more than 7' wide and 15' long.

Show the missing wall or there's nothing to discuss

Draw and measure the WHOLE space.

That means every solid wall, every window, every opening has its OWN dimension. Feet/inches all.

Upload as a jpeg , graph paper is fine 1/4 inch to a foot, dimensions noted

Until you do? NADA is the help

I think you are being asked to stand at the kitchen sink or in front of the television and face into the room and photo graph and post a floor plan .

First off, it's a lovely room and I am happy to see the brick flooring. If you want it to appear more living room than kitchen my first thought is to just devote more of the room to living than kitchen. Do you need as large a dining table as you have? If not, would suggest you get another, smaller table - perhaps a (4) top. Move the table as close to the cabinetry as you can. After that see how much space you have left for other living room furniture.

What do you want your living area to be comprised of? Sitting and lounging for how many people? I see a screen on the floor, do you want a TV mounted here too? Show the fourth wall not pictured here. Do you only have the one sofa or more furniture? Are you keeping the furniture you have? Measurements please.

    Need more dimensions and pictures.

If the furniture is staying, we need sizes for that too.

My first thought is to turn the sofa and the table so the kitchen is "behind" the sofa. Need to see the other walls though

Noooooooooo, do not start another discussion. Get the measurements; take a photo of the other end of the room. Stay with this (original) post.

Meanwhile, could you put the table and chairs on the wall where the sofa is?

Then turn the sofa so back is to kitchen.

Depending on the area we can't see, this photo may work for you.

When you get back in November? Just reread your post. "Me thinks" you posted your dilemma a month too soon.

Yes, I purchased near my aging parents who are about 5 hours away. I asked for help in arranging the living room in hopes of making better furniture selections my next visit since I have other options here for couches and tables. I understand my mistake. I plan to revisit next month and will use the idea of moving the back of the couch to the kitchen with the dining table directly behind it like a sofa table and see how that looks and feels. The current sofa is much too soft to sit at the table with. I have a small table that I may take to see what options that opens up. I will definitely get measurements. It's a small place and at most, will have 6-8 people but mostly just 1-2. Thank you again

For any suggestions on a furniture layout you need to provide a floor plan showing all dimensions, doors, windows, etc.

I agree with taking your current dining set. The round will fit well in the kitchen space, leaving a goodly size as living. It’ll help to avoid seeing any table as an island and cutting the space into sections.

Will this be your full time residence or a second home near your parents? Do the photos show the sellers' furniture that is staying or will it all be replaced?

This is an AI version of your updated space with creamy white walls. Without a floor plan, cannot really suggest how to enlarge the living room space.
