You guys. I have listened to the new TS album 47 times

last month
last modified: last month

Is there a program for old ladies who love Taylor Swift? I just watched the music video too (which was released exactly 15 minutes ago).

Anyone else listening? I promise I skipped the dirty song.

I haven't yet but I love her so much, I must get on that!

  • last month

My son told me that I absolutely must listen! It will be my kitchen music tomorrow!

  • last month

I have not... I usually love her albums a few years after their releases. But I'm tempted this time because she's on my radar. Perhaps this week if you've listened 47 times. :-)

I took DGD1 and a friend to the movies yesterday. The TS concert-movie was playing. I figured it was safe. Apparently I’ve been living under a rock. DD vetted it and discovered it is not suitable for 9 year olds. We went to see Gabby’s Dollhouse instead. 🙄

An aside: I wished I had brought earplugs. I haven’t been to a movie in eons. It was soooo LOUD.

  • last month

I dare you to listen without dancing around the house. It helped that DH was away all weekend!

    ok that's a little crazy

I'm probably an outlier but I listen to pop radio stations while in the car. Part of it is laziness, I like variety but don't want to fiddle with a device all the time. I'll bop in the car to the latest Taylor or Chappell Roan or Harry Styles or Doja Cat but I rarely listen to albums.

  • last month

xoxo Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter, both of whom my DD introduced me to.

I have a playlist called "Scenic Ride" specifically for the convertible.

Back ground music for parties is Billie Holiday.

I have a playlist for dinner parties called "Dinner Party Music for Old White People"

Otherwise, I like to listen to opera.

@Sueb20, will you be our musical director for the GTG? We will need a brunch playlist.

My 80 year old neighbor George is smitten with Taylor Swift. Preaches to me why her music is great. I have not seen the appeal. Maybe this one will do it for me?

I'm addicted to Chappell Roan Pink Pony club. I too either listen to radio in the car or my DH's old school hip hop.

  • last month

Ok, just saw the Ophelia video. Don't get the appeal. Don't hate it either.

  • last month

I'm not a Taylor Swift fan, but I like her nonetheless. I just watched the Ophelia video. It's quite the production, fascinating. I listen to classical music all day.

  • last month

I honestly don't know a lot of TS music, mostly old stuff for when my girls were at home. As a person, 5stars!

I'm addicted to Chappell Roan Pink Pony club.

Same. I let it loop on the car radio when I am by myself

Not a fan of TS. Nothing against her, just not my kind of music. BBSTX, after reading a lively discussion about the song ”wood”, I get what your daughter said. (Hopefully, a 9 year old would not understand the meaning.)

  • last month

Not a big fan of the music but she’s an A+ human IMO.

With respect to pop music in general I am stuck in the early 2000’s with the likes of Inara George and Ingrid Michaelson— and happy to be there 😎

Sue I love the thought of you dancing through your house to music you love! On days when I don’t get to the gym I often do the same to some of my all time favorite songs like September and Come and Get Your Love. It makes me happy ❤️

  • last month

Not a fan here, my music tastes run to Grateful Dead, but I admire TS. I can't name/hum/sing along with a single TS song, and probably would not cross the street to hear her. But I do think she's a very cool woman.

  • last month

I've not listened to the whole album, but do enjoy some of her songs. When I have my daughter in the car I listen a lot to pop music - when alone I'm listening to audio books or a very varied mix of music.

My daughter is a huge Sabrina Carpenter fan so we went to see her at ACL fest this past weekend and I have to say I thought the over an hour we stood waiting in the crowd in the heat because my daughter wanted to try to get close to the stage (we were not very close, but close enough to be right where she stepped into a bucket to go further out in the crowd ) was actually worth it. I really enjoyed her performance which I didn't think I would as much as I did. I was more there to be chaperoning my child and ended up a huge fan in the end. Sabrina really puts on a good show and tries to connect with her fans. I think Taylor Swift is the same way.

I was not a fan of TS at all until I took DD to a concert maybe 12 years ago. I expected to sit there rolling my eyes but instead I loved it. I wanted tix to an Eras show for my bday last year but DH wasn’t able to make it happen.

I am only recently becoming aware of the hidden messages, themes, symbolism, ”Easter eggs” -- she is very clever.

I only know of Pink Pony Club from wedding receptions! I rarely listen to modern pop music with the exception of TS.

Mtn, I would happily make a playlist! I made one for my bday party last year and DS 30th this year. I have playlists for different scenarios like you: driving; exercise; chill; porch songs; country; etc.

Im kind of neutral about TS. I love that she is a local-ish girl. I like that she is engaged to the brother of a local guy who I see occasionally in his Tesla truck. Her talent and rise to superstardom is amazing. She is gorgeous and talented but I really never listened to much of her music except that Shake song, which was inescapable.

    Ill start paying more attention.

  • last month

I've not listened to a single TS song. Love music and concerts but I guess we are stuck in the past - 70s rock and roll, classical and opera.

I will be the crabby lady who says I don't see what you all see in her. I don't dislike her,but I just don't see anything about her that is special.

Clearly you should not rely on me for trends and mass appeal.

LOL on "I expected to sit there rolling my eyes but instead I loved it." as that is along the lines of what I was thinking and I was biting my tongue the whole time we were standing there waiting for Sabrina for almost 1.5 hours before it started with me looking at the clock multiple times. As soon as it started I was drawn in and didn't look at the time again until it was over. I'm going to keep an eye out if we have an opportunity to see TS as I may enjoy that as well and although my kid isn't a huge TS fan as she is a Sabrina fan, she would love to go too.

Salonva, I said that one time here and got beat up for it. ( Yes, I am sort of kidding.)

I am another one who loves the Dead - and some of the newer iterations. (Hi Sushi. 😄 )

I don't think there is any overlap there. 🤣 Absolutely not saying I hate her, just no overlap in my world.

DH and I cooked together today and I played the new TS. He didn’t groan lol. It was fun! Probably won’t be in my regular rotation but it did get my feet moving.

Hey now, Sushipup and Ally De: We are everywhere! TS did go out with John Mayer (lead guitarist in Dead &Co, for those who may not know) so those six degrees of separation do exist. I have no idea what her music sounds like.

  • last month

Sure, Sueb, we believe you about the 47 times! If it were me, it really would be 47 times because I sometimes do play something over and over until I know the words or am sick of it, whichever comes first. Maybe not 47. I’m more of a fan of Chris Stapleton, Brandi Carlile, Crosby Stills & Nash and a few others from that era, but listen to a variety of music in general.

I don’t listen to a lot of TS but am a fan of her as a human, and all-around good person. Happy to see her succeed. I’ll have to give the new sings a listen. There is one I don’t understand from what my adult niece (with 2 pre-teen girls) is saying. Why did she have so much profanity in one song? To me that’s like a teenager trying out curse words for the first time. Not something i would expect from TS.

  • last month

Mimou, that’s probably how I will listen when I get around to it. Glad you enjoyed it!

  • last month

Outside: Brandi Carlile is one of my absolute favorites. Love Chris Stapleton, too.

Psssst, @Sueb20, make sure they make it on the playlist for the GTG!
