where to place sconces above my kitchen window .

My kitchen window is 117 inches wide. I will be getting these sconces (I can choose 8,10, 12 inch diameter shade) .

Where would you place them? I have the first one centered on the window, but not sure how far from. The middle I should place the other 2?

You want to space them out equally, but how far apart depends on the size you choose and the amount of light these fixtures throw. A general guideline holds that you want a spacing of 3 to 6 feet between sconces

You divided 117/2 (= 58.5) to find the midpoint where you will hang the center sconce. You could then divide the space into thirds (117/3 = 39) and hang each of the other sconces halfway into their third (39/2 = 19.5 blue circles). This would mean the space between the sconce on the left and the middle sconce would be (58.5 - x = 19.5) 39”. But if you choose a very large shade, or those fixtures produce a lot of lumens you might want to space them farther out, like the two red circles to either side of the blue ones. As long as you are consistent you should be fine. Also, try to put them on a dimmer switch if you can.

You might consider, either doing one sconce in the middle of the window, or one on either side of the window. It will depend on what other lighting you are using in the space, and how much light you will need in that area. Just reached out to the company, and their outdoor sconces can be used indoors, but they are damp rated meaning they won’t get damaged by rain !

Besides the sconces, are you putting in recessed lights too? Beverly’s last photo is beautiful - brass sconces over the sink. But that kitchen also has recessed lights, which help to keep the whole room bright for cooking.

We used the sconces in Beverly’s picture, I think they‘re beautiful. As an aside, we had to place them very early in the build since they were going in a header. I wish I’d mounted them higher and left more room for my shade. just something to keep in mind.
