Help with drapery placement and rod type

last month
last modified: last month

We have recently removed the blinds from this patio door and bow window. We plan to install a curtain to filter light and provide privacy at night, with both windows (patio and bow) having the same curtain and rod.

Dilemma -

1. There is not much room to hold the drapery beyond the edge of the bow window on the right. There will be builtin cabinets on the adjacent wall, which will take up about 15 inches of space.

2. The curtain rod on the left side of the patio door would extend back behind the bar cabinets on the adjacent wall

3. When both the patio door and bow window curtains are open, the accumulated drapery in the middle of the two windows leaves not much room between. the rods.

Help needed -

1. Should we install a black steel rod 4 inches from the ceiling and have the rod extend back beyond the bar and as close to the future builtins as possible?

or

2. Install a ceiling track which extends across both windows and have the drapery accumulate in the middle so they open together on one side only?

Help with this matter is greatly appreciated!
