last month

I'm very nervous, but very enamoured with this mother of pearl tile. I can't find any assistance or info on it. Its not flat, its like tiny little pieces of mother of pearl. 10x10 mosaic. Color is Smokey Pearl. Anyone have any experince with it???Tile Mart D-Lux Pearl Mosaic MOP tile link

What a fun tile! So pretty with proper lighting.

For me - I would verify what sealer is needed and what the maintenance is like. Find out if you can order a single sheet. Then take it home and test it with different sorts of stuff that may splatter on it and what sort of damage may be done. Think - hot sauce, hot oil, turmeric, lemon juice, etc.

    Good luck!

Beware of any bathroom cleaning products with this natural stone selection. Every thing you use must be pH neutral.

" D-Lux Pearl Mosaic Bathroom Wall Accent?"

@Debbi Washburn, think she is using it a bathroom. If there is hot sauce or turmeric in there, there is a bigger issue, lol...........

Wherever it’s to be used, it’s pretty- but a cleaning nightmare, I would think. If you have full time help, that might work.

@Debbiewashburn, @millworkman, May not be any tumeric or hot sauce, but could be red wine, purple shampoo, self tanner, hair dye , etc in the shower which we were warned about with marble lol

Thank you Debbie, when I ordered the sample they sent me the small one lol I'll order the larger one if they'll let me. Its $60 sq ft so its worth the due diligence. Thankfully, its a very small area and a splurge we decided to make.

@clt3, good idea. I have marble subway tiles in my shower now a prior owner put in, and I think its the same thing so I'lll double check. Just seems such a fragile finish, thats what makes me worried. Fingers crossed, my husband will kill me if its damaged:(

@Patricia, planning on shower head wall as accent, I agree it sounds crazy. The Application stated “Interior Wall, Exterior Wall, Backsplash, Shower Wall / Wet Areas, Fireplace”. It’s made of small marble and mother of pearl pebbles.

@patricia, would love any advice you’re thinking. I’m researching other mosaics since you mentioned it with mop in them, like the penny ones. It says absolutely no wet areas on those. They’re like 3 mm thick (thin). The D-Lux mosaic has a very thick heavy fiberglass looking backing. The others are thin and flimsy. May be a good experiment, but expensive lesson. I will take the above advice, check on sealing (especially if has marble pieces) and how it stands up to shower dirt and stains. It’s just gorgeous in person. But not pretty if it’s disgusting after use. It’s a second home, 6 mo a year, and I’m pretty meticulous on cleaning. No kids. Of course the tile store is all on board $$$$ I have not got the go ahead from tile installer yet though…..
