I have few upper cabinets in most of my kitchen so no need for under cabinet lighting. I have slab cabinets and IMO a slim light rail with slim bit of trim will work This gives you the idea and honeslty IMO good lighting is a huge plus in any kitchen so I would do the slimmest possible

There's nothing wrong with lead tape and a piece of trim.

What is your kitchen layout that REQUIRES under cabinet lighting? Or where a 1 OR 2 INCH loss of upper storage in cabinets would be a serious loss?

Do you have a top molding as well? It may look good to have a molding top and bottom.

You could also do a recessed puck light with no trim

The linear lights recessed into the cabinet look really great but that cut needs to be spot on!

If you don't want a light rail molding, I would recess the bottom 1" . I don't think that will really effect the storage in your cabinets that much.

You just need a simple small 1 1/2" profiled stock.

Thank you all for your input! Seems like it just comes down to personal preference but it was helpful to hear what others recommend.

After speaking with my cabinet maker they suggested raising the cabinet floor and adding a front piece to fully conceal the lighting without the appearance of a light rail, which I will be moving forward with.
