Bedroom furniture/rug assistance

last month

In the process of changing up our guest bedroom. Appologies if seeing this twice as I originally did not post in design dilemmas. The bed is a taupe linen and dark blackishbrown iron. Wall color will all be Sherwin Williams Upward or accent of Upward with Drift of Mist on the others. What suggestions are there for rug and possibly dressers and night stands? Dont want to spend a lot here so debating on just keeping the black "wood" dressers. Open to any ideas. Thank you. Photo of current dressers, ignore wall color and mess.
Also, contemplated possible adding a peel and stick ratten to the face of the dressers to "update" them.

For a guest bedroom two dressers is a lot. It doesn’t give guest much room to move about or to leave their bag etc. I think it would be better to just have one dresser and then a bit more space. You could even get simple black night stands, a couple of nice lights, comfortable and simple bedding and be done.

IMO let us see the bedding then we can comment on wall color That very ugly night table needs go so maybe start there for furniture change . I see no reason for so much dresser space in a guest room . No peel and stick anything ever IMO. Seeing the whole room could be helpful. I like the rug but how does it work with the bedding . I find in my guest room the bedding pretty much stays the same year round just a nicer heavier duvet under the coverlet for winter.Take the tiny art away from above the headboard IMO nothing there . I would wall mount the TV on a articulating arm and instead of so much dresser a small table and chair for a desk type piece . I often put a taller dresser inside the closet in my guest room to allow for a chair Is taht the only place for the bed , I ask becuase you need 2 night tables so maybe bypass doors on the clset to allow the 2 night tables if the bed needs to go there . Show us the whole room please and the bedding

Will recommend that you move the two pieces of artwork from directly above the bed headboard and place them on either side of the bed where I assume two nightstands will be at some point. The artwork is just not impactful in its present position.

choose one paint color, too small a room for any accent wall color.

Paint the chest, not peel and stik needed. With such a tall headboard, no need for framed art above. The rug is great, if you keep the rest of the room calm. Drift of Mist would be my choice and let the rug be your star. Keep the bedding in the Linen tones, tone on tone, with texture, rather than color/pattern.

Thank you so far for the comments. Added additional photos of the room. The room we are working with is the blue room. There are two closets in the room. Open to bedding options as well, and the rug will be going. Thank you

I agree with above comment that 2 dressers for a guest bedroom is too much. I don't have a floor plan with dimensions to see if a chair would fit in the room. But here is an idea showing your wall colour with white bedding with blue accents, a natural fibre rug, your nightstand painted balck with an added touch of rattan on the drawer(s), replacing the knobs on the dresser for brass, a brass task lamp for the nightstand, a new mirror for you dresser, etc...

I love the bed. l I’d make it the star and bedding will be key also. Suggest a bigger nightstand and a more substantial lamp (try HomeSense).

Not a fan of your paint colors…top large swatch below would be complementary with the taupe linen and it will feel like a calm retreat. Paint all the walls the same color and your rattan blinds and a natural weave rug would work well.

Paint the dresser and add new hardware; look on Amazon and Marketplace and buy in bulk.

I’d remove the highboy and a chair will be handy.

Art can have a big impact.

You could use one of the colors that Maureen has in her comment - they are nice calming colors for a bedroom. Do you dislike the rug that is currently under the bed (not the one in the blue room - the rug that's under the bed currently)? I think that selecting one of the colors from that rug would look pretty/calming.

SW Sea Salt is a popular wall color - especially for bedrooms/bathrooms.

It works with MANY different colors. Some people use it as a whole house color - @Patricia Colwell Consulting uses it that way sometimes (I believe that she lightens it a bit).

The people who used it in the above bedroom loved it so much that they used it again in their new home. It looks a bit different due to having a western exposure in their new bedroom.

You can find many color pallets that people have posted using Sea Salt. The one below has black and the linen color of your bed shown with it.

It would look nice with a white or natural linen (undyed) duvet cover. Below are some linen sheets in a sea salt color paired with a darker blue/green/gray color.

Here is another linen duvet (diifferent company than the one above) that is also named "Sea Salt" -

Here is your bed with a moody blue/green color on the walls.

I like the bedding below more than the one that was used in the above photo (it's from PB - and on clearance).

Here is the same bedding used above + an added coverlet folded at the foot of the bed + some shams in the same color.

Same duvet cover again used with other blues + navy walls.

Hi Brad & Helper Co. —
    Just very quickly —
    NAUTICAL PALETTE:
Mist, Charcoal, Cream, Dark Red, Warm blue from light to dark, sea foam etc
MAKE SURE any reds you use here are COOLER — Scarlett etc.
BUREAUS (Dressers) — those are nice pieces and I would not recommend replacing them — several options include a repaint, distressing, take your pick if the black is overwhelming.
But I have a suggestion here, just after pondering your pics and palette —
ALL METALS REPAINTED BRASS (bed yep!)
    BUREAUS GO TO DARK RED
    BRASS PULLS

    BEDDING
    MULTICOLOR IN NAUTICAL PALETTE
-Careful here to not to have nautical prints
-Brass bedstead meant a quilt — shams should NOT MATCH, Coordinate instead.

    BRASS Fixtures.
HAUL in that little red nightstand.

BRASS OR WHITE FRAMES & lamps

    And this famous print:

JUST HAVE FUN! whatever you decide! ❤️

I love the color combo you’re planning! For a rug, I’d go neutral like cream or light gray with a subtle pattern to add texture without overwhelming the room. Keeping the black dressers works, and adding peel-and-stick rattan panels is a great budget-friendly way to refresh them. For nightstands, either match the dressers or pick a lighter wood to balance the dark tones.
