Sorry but I think you have placed everything in the opposite positions.

That wall is too short for the cabinet you placed there Here the space with the pieces moved and a one step larger mirror.

Enter your home with all your winter outerwear on and your arms full of grocery bags or packages. What do you wish you had handy, and where do you wish you had it? That’s what’s missing. Get it and place it. ;-)

for me, not the right style of mirror or furniture piece.

a table with exposed legs to show off the paneled wainscoting.

a mirror with a nice frame, the one you have is too wide for the wall.

A larger rug is needed! A different table and and a round mirror on the larger wall, if there is room when the door opens.

With open plans, I like to imagine where would the walls have gone had it been built with separate rooms…and in your house I think the entry stops just short of the bedroom (?) door so I’d want my entry furniture inside that area, like Beverly placed it. The short wall where you have the piece now is more hallway and I wouldn’t necessarily need a piece of furniture in that hallway. I’d also move that basket on the floor because it’s blocking my entry into the seating area. Otherwise I’d have to walk to the fireplace to enter it (the seating area).

I would get a low bookcase to help visually define the entry and place it where the plant is now. You'd have to find another spot for the furniture under the mirror. Bigger, more vibrant rug, closer to the door will help as well.

I think just a shelf to hold a bowl for keys is all you need and then the art above or a mirror since you have a piece of art there alredy in the space

The console is too wide and the mirror is also a bit too wide and definitely too short.

Thank you to all that commented. A couple things I forgot to mention.

The cabinet and mirror are new and will be staying. I’m looking for ideas on how to accessorize the chest only. Everything in the house is new within the past year and we are very happy with our choices.

We live in Charleston, so we don’t need to worry about boots, jackets etc.

The wall behind the door is too narrow for any type of a table. Plus the door swing is an issue.

The rug might be a little small but it is new and we like it. We rarely use the front door as the house has two other doors in the back.

    Thank so much.

I would put a chunky vase with tall greenery and big footed bowl on top of the chest. Or a bowl and a lamp. Don't clutter it up with a bunch of small things. You need some round shapes to counteract all the rectangles and squares in the entry.
