I couldn't get through the whole thing - wouldn't let me watch with an ad blocker and the ads were beyond intrusive. Looks like there are some good bones and and unfortunate decorating choices.

Wow! That sure provided a wake-me-up this morning!

    Cute story.

What a sweet story. I actually kind of like the bathrooms.

I love a house with personality. But having taken up 1960s shag carpet in 2000, I can imagine what the this carpet backing will be like.

I kind of like the kitchen but there’s less counterspace than my current one, and just say no to a corner sink like that. How much of it do you think is original? The floor is 1990s-2000s. What do you think they put the white handles on the base cabinets for? They are not ergonomic, so maybe to hand towels from?

The wife was true to her own self. I admire that. I wouldn't mind having an indoor hot tub. Mid century modern is very much on trend.

Thinking of the carpet vs hardwood thread…imagine what’s going on in that carpet…

Sue, Ithought the same. I've ripped up carpets after 10 years and it was gross. Mymom’s carpeting was so old that when you ran the vacuum cleaner the carpet fuzz came up. I hate to think what the buyers found.

    @dedtired...10 years!

Just ripped up 20 year old carpet. The previous owners wife had knocked over a glass of red wine. They put the bed over it to show the house. Didn't find out about it until after closing. We've been sleeping downstairs, in the other master suite. :0)

I like MCM....the wallpaper is wild!

Nicole, about a year after I had the Persian rug cleaned (actually I think it’s Afghan), DH knocked over a full glass of red wine. On a Friday night. I dissuaded DH from using cleaners, the Hoover carpet shampooer, and, gasp, bleach. We just blotted and used club soda, and I called the rug guy first thing Monday morning. He’s amazing. When I was having my grandmother’s 1920s rug cleaned, he showed me the entire business, how they clean, and repair by hand. (unfortunately, I don’t have a room big enough to accommodate the rug. It would fit in the living room but it would darken the room too much.)

Years ago, someone told me that if red wine is spilled, immediately pour white wine on the spill to dilute it, then salt and or club soda should do a good job.

That husband sounds like such a sweetie-still proud of his wife's decorating.

Wow - amazingly bold wallpapers! And I like the 'bones' very much. I really dig those kind of houses - dream homes for me. Thanks for sharing that 🙂

Red wine stain —- use Oxyclean

Sweet story, but the interior of that house leaves me cold.

I wonder why they had to get new fixtures in the blue papered bathroom. That vanity and toilet stick out like a sore thumb.

It actually has interesting ” bones.” i can see stripping it all and starting over.

If there's an estate sale, I'm loading that wicker up.

My husband DID get the red wine stain out of the off white colored carpet. It just looked very worn in a 2x2 spot....and....it soaked through the carpet to the pad. Yuck! And below....luckily it was cement not wood sub-flooring. As of today...we threw out the carpet and have a solid hardwood installed. A new chapter.
