The very first decision you have to make is Framed or Frameless cabinets. That will limit your choices. Personally, I would not select a framed cabinet.

Canton Mich has Ikea and they have planning and installation. With a property sale not too far off you can have a really good Ikea kitchen with money saved for great flooring and counters. Ikea is frameless which is great and many door styles...have a look. What are the features of the space ? ...size ?.....storage needs? .... seating as in island? aesthetics that you deem necessary and so on.....

I'm in Ann Arbor so very close to Canton. How would you compare their stuff to HD & home depot?

I'm so new to this and don't exactly have the eyes and knowledge of an interior designer as well. How would you go about deciding between framed and frameless cabinets?

I don't have space for an island unfortunately, and this will be a full scale remodel where the layout and change, and walls may be coming down.

I mostly just want to learn about different cabinent lines in this particular post. I think framed might actually be more suitable for my house given it's a century home -- I recall reading framed cabinets are more period appropriate for those older homes

You need a local kitchen designer who works with a local custom cabinet maker. It's too early to even think about brand and line. Think about designer first. There are a lot of routes from Maine to Mississippi. It depends on how fast you want to get there, how many times you want to stop, and what scenery you want to look at on the way.
