NEW Pics of Meadow and her ELEVEN puppies....

last modified: 21 days ago

A few people have asked about donations to Jack Jack's Pack. They have been amazing. They have said yes at every turn (issues with a few pups, Meadow's treatment for her mast cell tumor, etc.) This is their VENMO. Please be sure to copy it exactly because scammers have entered very similar VENMO addresses specifically to skim off from JJP, https://venmo.com/u/Sasha-Violette. Use the memo field to specify Meadow.

If you've already donated on the JJP site, and were unable to specify "Meadow", please don't worry. We have every reason to believe Meadown's needs will be met.

Update #3: We lost our little Sprig... the medical foster was with him from the second Lily handed him over until he passed away a few hours later. He wasn't in any pain, and thankfully, though his little life was woefully short, he knew love.

Update #2: The little runt, Sprig, is with a medical foster now. Lily took him back to the ER this morning because he was very lethargic. His glucose was low and he had a few other issues. We are very worried about our little guy....

Update #1: We lost little Daffodil last night. She was one of our favorites and we took it pretty hard. She'd had a clean bill of health just hours earlier. But she just kind of keeled over and died. We tried try to revive her but couldn't. And now my daughter has just left for the ER Vet with the runt (Sprig). He's nonstop crying -very similar to colic in an infant, and we just can't figure it out. Being the runt, he's already delicate....Lily had to go to a few appointments today so I stayed here with the pups. I did little else but weigh, feed, put pups on and off the heating pad, pull them out from under Meadow, feed her three times and walk her out in the yard, etc. Anyway, hoping Lily gets help for Sprig..... And THANK YOU to everyone who is donating. That is SO kind!

I'm in Austin for a Mother/Daughter weekend with Lily. She's been feeding a pregnant street dog, and trying to get her safe but the dog has been super skittish. We were able to get her trapped Sunday night, just before the cold spell. And the very next day, she gave birth to 12 puppies at Lily's house! One was stillborn, so we've been caring for the Mama and the 11 surving babies. Whew...

Mama is now Meadow, and she and her litter saw the vet yesterday. She has mastitis and a small mast cell tumor on her shoulder, but amazingly, she does not have heartworms or any other parasite! She did have fleas too, lots of them. So she's been given Advantage, which should work pretty quickly, and antibiotic and pain meds.

We've named her six boys and five girls:

Girls

Lilac

Marigold

Freesia

Clover

Daffodil (we lost her last night and we are so sad about it)

Boys:

Sprig

Huckleberry

Bramble

Thistle

Dandelion

Twig

Lucky Lily, lucky, lucky Meadow, and lucky pups. Good timing on Meadow's part. I am amazed that she had 11 puppies, but so glad she was in a safe and warm home. This has made my day and probably week and month, too! Keep the photos coming.

Oh my gosh! what a heartwarming story. You and your daughter are so kind to help out Meadow. Hope she and her pups find good homes.

Thank you for sharing this. You are both amazing.

What perfect timing...can't imagine having puppies out in the cold with no food source. Thank you for saving them and for posting for us!

Amazing commitment and lovely names— esp on the males. Best wishes to all. Is your daughter receiving support from a shelter or sanctuary I hope?

The rescue that trapped them is the most amazing place. They did not charge us to trap her and they took care of the vet visit yesterday. I think they are planning to do more fundraising for her and babies, and my daughter will too. We bought $100 worth of formula and that’s almost gone LOL.

We always used colored yarn collars to tell the pups apart when they are all colored the same. I'd use two colors often, Like blue + (color) for boys and pink + for girls. So you could have Green boy and Green girl, for example. I just used the cheap skeins of yarn. Change the collars, maintaining same colors, of course, every three days or so.

    Great names!

Wow! That is so wonderful that your family took Meadow in! It's a lot of work, but such a kindness to innocent animals. Huge litter too! I hope they all find wonderful, loving homes.

Oh my goodness, how precious! Meadow has very wise eyes and looks so content now thanks to you and your DD. 🥰

Thank you for sharing, Best! Such a wonderful story. :)

Those pups were just hoding off to leave the warm womb without heading into the cold!

Cute names! When our poodle had puppies, we knew them by their ribbon color. Except for the one puppy who was a toasty color rqther than whie, he was Toast. Our poodle had come from a litter where their litter names were cocktail beverages. I think ours was Gin, in close cahoots with her brother Tonic. It was the early ’60s, after all, cocktail culture.

how sweet......and I love those names. The shelter I volunteer with, frequently gives themed names to the puppy crews. Spices, characters from TV shows, using one letter, etc.

I always think of Hyacinth and Daisy and Rose. :)

    Beautiful family you have there.

OMG - the sweetest thing - both the pups and you kind souls who are taking care of them!

There's a special place in heaven for people who do things like this, Best! What a story and what a beautiful Mom and puppies!

I would love to donate to the shelter your daughter is working with if you would be OK sharing that information.

Thank you so much uberbeachy -it’s called Jack Jack’s Pack and it’s in Austin. They are amazing. I think they’ve rescued five street dogs just this week, each one in more deplorable condition than the last. If you do donate, please specify that it is for Meadow.

I am going to send in a donation tomorrow - I will let them know it's for Meadow.

How do we specifiy the donation is for Meadow and her babies? I couldn't see a place to do that under the Donate button on their website.

Oh shoot, 3katz, let me ask the rescue and I'll post it as an update on my original post.

With no care while she was pregnant, it is a wonder you only lost three. Although three is three too many

My husband and son found a pregnant lab in the woods. She was no where near any house and had to of been dumped. Her name ended up being Sweet Girl and she was. I think there were ten puppies.

Oh my gosh, you and your DD are angels. A friend of mine adopted her most recent dog from that rescue group. I will also be sending in a donation for Meadow.

What a wonderful tail! (Pun intended.) You and your daughter are indeed kind and generous, and this world needs that!
