3”/4” isn’t nearly enough open space. you can’t get a hand in that when you need to dust, or a paint roller, when you want to repaint. Add in the chippy breakable top, and you need to do something else. Smaller something else.

Thank you. How cheap does the current pedistool look? We thought cheap since builder grade, but the walled in area for the sink is odd for us, limiting what we put in the space bc it’s small. We felt floating may create an illusion of being more open. The pedistool looks open, but we felt it don’t look higher end.

Keep what you have.

Pedestal versus bathroom vanity is a design choice and either of them could be cheap (or expensive) looking. The modern vanity you show looks like something you could buy at Ikea and it probably doesn't go with the rest of your transitional house ... I'm guessing since you only showed one photo, but the trim I can see isn't modern!

The only reason I would switch from a pedestal to a vanity in a powder room is if I really needed some storage space.

If you want the space to look more "expensive" get a fabulous framed mirror to replace the basic one that is there now. Current one is probably stuck on, but a new one will hang on one or two nails/hooks.

Wallpapering the space could also elevate the look.
