Furniture rug placement is odd shaped living room. Help with rug color

last month

Hello! I am desperate for help with furniture placement, rug size and I
need advice on color scheme. I purchased a couch and love seat yesterday. I am wondering if I made a bad choice in regard to color, considering what I already have going on. In addition, I need help with placement and advice on what color and size of area rug to buy. My living room is oddly shaped with only one wall option for the couch. I have included pictures (2) coming in from the front door and 1 from the other side. The couch, love seat and rug in the photos are coming out. I have also included a picture of the new sofa( love seat is the same) along with measurements of the furniture and some of the living room. Aside from the new rug and maybe some decor items, I am not able to make any improvements, so wall color, flooring, other furniture needs to stay. The new color of the new couch is described as denim, it has small white pinstripes. I would have loved to have gone with white or oatmeal but my dog owns the house and I just live here😍

I hit send before I finished this post. The new couch is 39hx87wx40d. Love seat is 39x67x40. The measurement between to tv wall and the wall the couch is on is approximately 13 ft. The measurement from the door wall to the kitchen wall is approximately 11.5 ft. I did not choose those throw pillows

why do the walls look mint green?

    1. I would have selected a sofa and two chairs
    2. The TV is mounted too high in the room. This is not a sports bar.
    3. I'd add drapery panels to the sliding doors to try and soften the general appearance of the room. It look pretty hard with that paint color.
    4. If you have wafer LED lights in the ceiling, they might be set at the wrong color.. Maybe a bit too cool.
    5. I wouldn't select another chrome accessory for the room

Thanks! Great idea for the TV and the white fan. Are you able to help with my questions regarding furniture placement, rug color and size? The walls look mint green because they are.

Have you thought about drywalling the passthrough to use that area for the tv?

I'm not a fan of the pass-thru wall because the spaces are not really connected enough that way. I'd prefer a wall there. The kitchen is open to the dining space. That's enough given the traffic flow compromises from the foyerish area. With a new wall, the tv would go there. It can actually go there now at close enough to the comfortable height. The long couch goes where the current LS is. The LS is opposite with its back to the foyer. With the new tv placement, a more casual configuration would be a sectional with the main segment along the wall with the tv on it now. You can add ottomans and a chaise for casual lounging.

A woven rug like pictured large enough for the entire seating arrangement.

I had this dreaded layout in an apartment years ago. I would close the pass through and move the tv there. Then then long sofa can go along the long wall where the tv is now, and the love seat in front of the window wall.

To add, that was the layout we ended up with and liked best after trying 5 or so different options, including moving the dining area to where you have the tv/sofa set up now.
