I'd get one off ebay. Gas Valve Vr8205m2823 for sale | eBay

You can get a new one on ebay for $140. Used ones cost $30-$100. Give the fact that a used one could give out on your the next day, I' bite the bullet and get new.

Thanks for your responses. I bought one from Ebay, but I think it is a dud as contacts show open circuit. Does anyone know the proper resistance range when I get another one?

How are you surviving with no heat for the past two weeks?

Call Supply House and ask what the proper resistance should be in the event you get a defective valve. You should not have a problem if you are buying a new unit from a reputable supplier.

Downstairs unit is still working, keeps upstairs bearable. I was out of town last week and did not do anything. Thanks.

Maybe it just needs a new fuse as shown in Figure 8 of the installation instructions. (I know, you already checked this.)

@mike_home Thank you. I ordered one from Supplyhouse, should arrive tomorrow. I purchased a used one earlier thinking I will replace the whole system soon.

@wdccruise I do not recall seeing a fuse on the control board. There is 24v power, main fan and inducer motors are running normally. The spark ignition is firing, just ignition. I should have tried to measure voltage at the valve contacts when ignition was firing, but I do not have any clips to hold the voltmeter probs to the contacts. The existing gas valve also has open circuit at the contacts and so I am pretty sure it is bad.

Dunno. I was just referring to Figure 8 of the installation instructions but there are several ignition systems listed there.

$147 plus tax on the Lennox website is a pretty good price — I wouldn’t recommend installing aftermarket/analog parts.
