Need help with new lighting to freshen up an old kitchen!

Hi. I want to get new lighting for my 20-year-old kitchen as the current brush nickel feels dated and meh. I would say the style of our house is transitional.

I am considering the Artcraft Gem Blizzard Glass 13 bulb chandelier (31-32") for over the kitchen table in brushed brass and black -- or the Regina Andrews Styx Chandelier (at 47.75" linear, this one is a heavier more modern look at pricier, but I do love alabaster). Our table is 76"x40"

I am also going to replace the runners... in front of the fridge and behind the sink.

Pics of the existing kitchen are posted here, along with some ideas for pendants, but feel free to suggest alternative options. (Btw, island measures just over 9 feet - or 111" x 40") The current pendants are 8" in diametre on the bottom. Not sure I can go that much bigger. Maybe to 9"? Too small wouldn't have a lot of impact.

Right now I am not planning on changing the brushed nickel hardware on the cupboards - but I may change it to brass later on. But I want the metals on the pendants and chandelier to match -- so basically black and brushed brass or just black.

Thank you for your ideas and thoughts! Also, can someone please recommend an app that would allow me to put all of these options into photos to allow for me to 'see' them more easily?

I personally prefer the existing lighting.

But yes, to warming up the room some with a hint of color on the walls and ceiling...

It feels/looks too sterile. changing up the artwork and stools along with a floor runner, and even changing out the blinds to a patterned fabric roman blind.

I don't like a linear light over your table. Something with more of a chandelier shape punctuates this area better and feels right as a light lined up with the space between the windows.

I like the first light you have selected, the gem blizzard in white with brass. I love Visual Comfort Talia chandelier over a kitchen table, and this light you have posted is a more affordable alternative. If you choose this, then get white and brass for over your counter too. Don't be afraid to go bigger than what you currrently have.

You have a nice kitchen and new lighting is a great upgrade after 20 years.

Kitchen lighting design is 3 tier. Task lighting for the work zones, ambient to control the overall room brightness and decorative lower output pendants, sconces and chandeliers. Both task, I see a couple recessed cans, and better ambient can be added to your space. Task should be at least 450 lumens or 70 foot candles at the counter.

Totally personal opinion but the dark cords/rods create a lot of contrast against the white cabinetry, I wouldn’t love that

I do not think gold or black work in your space so for me at least stick with the nicle finish. I do not like the chandelier you have now for sure it is hung too high the wrong shape and it lights the ceiling so change that for sure but keep the silver finish for it and the ones in the kitchen now do the job of lighting the island maybe just chnage those bulbs to LED 4000K and see if that is all you need .
