Pantone's color of 2026...no color at all!

Ok then...a color that is not a color...or from a light pov, the presence of all colors...

I guess I must already be in as it matches the color of our toilet paper!!

This feels existentially sad to me.

I thought this was fake at first, tbh.

Shows how hard they tried on this one.

Didn't we just make the move from neutrals to color and conclude the bashing portion of all white unattainable rooms pictured with a ton of post production editing? Are we tired of color already?

I'll have to compare it to the other "whites" I know, to see the real undertones, but sadly it looks like a very light gray in the photo! We are barely 5 years away from the "gray trend" that lasted way too long (around 12 years).

How many Color of the Years does Pantone name? Seems like Im hearing of a new one every few months.

Pantone isn't the only one coming out with a color of the year - the paint companies are doing so as well. However, Pantone is the main resource for graphics/ fashion designers, etc., unlike Sherwin Williams.

@ Kswl - so is the color really supposed to reflect the collective desire for less chaos or does it actually reflect the normalization of white supremacy?

Pantone chose Cloud Dancer as a color it said “acts as a whisper of calm and peace in a noisy world,” adding it “invites true relaxation and focus, allowing the mind to wander and creativity to breathe.”

It wasn’t long before the choice was slammed by critics as tone deaf—some have used the term “Pantonedeaf”—and the color was accused of evoking white supremacy in a year many diversity, equity and inclusion efforts were cut and as watchdog organizations warn the ideals of white nationalism are becoming normalized in mainstream politics.

Some speculated the color choice was made without the input of people from diverse groups and others called the choice “a recession indicator”: “We can’t afford color anymore,” one commenter posted.

Oh, geez, that is a stretch!

The over analyzing of this color choice is way more entertaining than the boring color.

That’s a lot of kerfuffle over the color white.

Maybe Pantone has always been Pantonedeaf, after all, white is the base for most paint colors.

    How absurd!

    What color is BS?

I couldn't help but like the comment "We can't afford color anymore". Made me laugh.

@ Flo Mangan My dad always said his favorite color was blue brown brinzle - the color of an ox fart - sounds like the color of BS to me.

Well, color me surprised 😁 Is there no subject safe from that subset of the population that values farfetched umbrage and indignation over reason?

adding, I am far more offended by the extreme width of those cloudy pants than the color!

Just watched this take on the Pantone color of the year - alternative names:

She's very funny, and usually does restaurant stories - comments are pretty good too. Somebody called it 'mayonnaise' 😄

    It's a very Samoyed-like White!!!!!

On a FB feed, someone on a Samoyed forum had posted a pic of a Sammie with that color-chip, instead of the Woman! Was way too cute!

Some commenters called it mayonnaise. There is already a paint color called Mayonnaise, by BM. I have used it.
