Need to add lighting! Would 3 sconces work on this big wall

Our basement only has 6 can lights in the entire living/ bar area... it's ridiculous. Right now we just have 2 unmatched floor lamps. Would adding 3 sconces to that long wall be suitable? Any other ideas?

Other ideas would include adding more lamps - I only put on our overheads in our basement room if I am cleaning (fwiw we use Alexa connected bulbs so we can turn them on dimmed with a verbal ask when entering the room)

I would potentially add more cans as well as get lamps you like. I would not think that a series of sconces would add to that wall.

More cans not sconces , sconces are poor lighting at the best of times what you need is more overall light that comes from good ceiling light and lamps . You do know you can runa tone of LED lighting off one circuit and 4" cans and good LED 4000K bulbs will be awesome.

Sconces really only provide ambient lighting. In our basement we have sconces on the sides of our fireplace and they basically provide mood lighting. We have pot lights on dimmers and highly suggest that route.

The right architectural sconces can light up this room well. These both cast light downwards for task lighting and upwards to bounce across the ceiling and totally illuminate a large room. They are not meant to be decorative lighting, they are meant to provide powerful illumination.

I live in Manhattan where it is common to have a concrete ceiling in living rooms into which you cannot drill. We hired a lighting designer who added six of these sconces three on each of the two long walls. They are so bright, we have to use them on dimmers. No need for any other lighting in the room other than reading lamps should we choose to keep the sconces turned down.

They are so fantastic, at my Dad's request, we added four to our large guest suite. We have them painted to match the wall colors so the blend in.

This picture shows how similar such powerful sconce lighting can disappear into a wall and assist in throwing light far and wide.

The problem is that sconces will always be in the way -- one will be where you want the tree, or you get a bookcase and can't slide it around. You can get very slim flushmount ceiling fixtures that could even be installed on that soffit and give you lots of diffuse light.

Scones on side of FP. They won't interfere with the tree or tv.

Here are pix of our basement plan that indicate placement of canister lights. Photos show additional sconces and under cabinet lights in use. Lots of lights and dimmers make a basement function.
