Etsy is a great place to shop for couch pillows. I had custom ones made for my wingback chairs. Lots of quality items on that website and good sellers. The couch definitely needs some interesting pattern added.

These are pillow covers that are sold on Etsy. You can purchase the inserts locally to keep the cost down. I would ONLY use down feather inserts because they are more comfortable than foam.

Choose your fabric with care...something that will have texture to 'grip' the leather, or the pillows will always slouch down and slide around and generally drive him crazy. Lumbar pillows kind of tuck into the crevice between the back and seat, with less area to slide around.

Thes are the pillows I had made from an Etsy provider. Lots of talented people on that website. I agree your fabric choice will be critical, but so will the size of the pillows.
