exterior house boat accent?

last modified: last month

What architectural feature could I add to the exterior of this houseboat… Possibly to either side of the two long vertical windows?

Can you post more photos of the houseboat with a wider view and from several angles?

Why do you feel it needs an "architectural feature or element"?

I do not think it needs anything just do the deck with lots of color in the plants and be done .Is the space behind those a staircase ? If so areally fab chandelier in the top one maybe look pretty cool lit up at night.

Area next to the windows doesn't need anything. You have enough vertical and horizontal lines with all the railing, so no need to add any extra visual clutter.

Can you provide details on this area - the large white portion and any interest in enhancing the area behind stairs/how it‘s used.

I think adding some teak could add warmth and interest. Perhaps box in the beam supports if feasible. Looks like the upper and lower railings are different colors? I’d paint the white to match the bottom and they also won’t feel as prominent.

I think it looks fine as is and wouldn’t add anything

I wouldn't add anything there. Focus on your deck areas - colorful furniture, tall plants, decorative planters on the railings, a different color sail cloth.

Those windows aren't any sort of focal point.

I think I would paint that lower section something darker. It would be nice if all the railings were in wood.

    What a fun project!!

"Porthole" windows and as someone mentioned, teak trim.

Perhaps something simple like these long exterior lights.

Im in Trinidad and Tobago. Maybe in 6 months we will put it on air bnb ….after work is done and we enjoy it. We just stained the teak floor under the large upstairs deck. Then we will put a sea deck type material on the upstairs deck and a hot tub. we need to figure out where to put an outdoor kitchen in ground floor/covered area near the stairs….find a dead zone where people dont ’lime’ .
