HELP! Our new roof looks blue. Help with siding & trim paint colors!

last month

We got a new roof in the color Colonial Slate by Landmark. I was expecting more of a medium/dark gray. But sadly, it looks soooo blue. I'm devastated. Now, I'm left trying to figure out what siding and trim color will pair well with it. I want a paint that will hopefully take some of the blue out of the roof, if possible. Current color options are: SW Pewter Green, SW Rock Bottom, SW Retreat, SW Cyberspace. I think I'm leaning towards Pewter Green, but I would really appreciate some help. Bonus points if you can tell me what trim colors would look nice.

The roof doesn't look blue at all to me, at least not in that pic. My real slate roof has quite a blue cast to it.

With those dark colors, I'd do a warm cream for trim.

Please stand back from the house in the same light that seems to make your roof look blue. Your photos look brown, not blue or gray.

the cyberspace will enhance any blue hue you might see.

of the options shown, I like the pewter green

without seeing the whole house and the trims in question, I cannot recommend a trim color.

Did your roofing contractor set some Colonial Slate shingles up on the roof for a day so that you could see how the shingles looked on your house at various times during the day?

    1. Home below has three different colors of shingles that were placed on roof (Colonial Slate on the left side):

Here is another house below with three different colors of shingles placed on top of the current shingles (Colonial Slate in the middle):

Below are two photos of the same house with Colonial Slate shingles:

The angles of the roof + different time of day impacts what the shingles look like on the home:

This is a different home below with Colonial Slate shingles - you can see how the shingles look different on the top of the home vs. on the side by the windows:

The photo you posted does not show a blue roof - it looks like it has a lot of browns in it.

My SIL owns a roofing company - he told me that he always tells homeowners that they should always have samples placed up on their roofs. I could ask him to take a look at your photo (+ more photos that you add with morning sun + noon sun).

This is Colonial Slate by Landmark Certainteed which I took from internet. It looks really different from the picture you posted which look more brownish/taupe.

    Description:

CertainTeed Landmark Colonial Slate shingles feature rich gray tones with subtle blue and sometimes red undertones, creating a sophisticated, multi-dimensional look that mimics natural slate, offering depth without being too dark and pairing well with white trim or stone. It's a versatile, classic gray that provides a refined aesthetic, unlike solid dark options.

It's impossible to judge on our screens which colour would be best at colours look different from one screen to another. However I like the dark gray with a white trim. You'll have to test on a large sample and walk around the house with your sample at different times of the day (light & shade).

It says this house has a Colonial Slate shingles roof. The gray they chose has a blue tint to it.

Dark colors won’t help with the slight blue and if they don’t suit your home overall, suggest going a bit lighter.

There will be less contrast and blend in better.

I don't see blue either. take pictures at noon so we can get a better look.

back up and show the entire home.

do you have any spare roof tiles?

show them outside at noon w/a close up so we can see the color.

post pics of the front of the home and the back. Which direction does you home face? North? if so, its going to get cooler light than a southern exposure. ditto East

based on the name of the roof tiles and the colors online and what you show, I see more reddish tones, griege and neutrals. I do not see cool blue tones at all ( which is what Cyberspace is)

    This is what I see

These bottom two, above, are more bronze toned. the left is green, but has a bronze undertone. ditto the one on the left. a more burnished bronze.

these could be trim colors. you want a warmer white that falls on the red side, not blue, not gray.

I'd also get the rain gutters painted in a copper color, not new-penny color, but a big more aged copper, do copper accents, address, pots, etc

    copper-bronze light fixtures
