Is it awful if I say no mirrors or at least not like those ones? They don’t seem to go with other decor at all

    thanks I appreciate honest response

I wanted to find ways to make tye toom look more spacious

    Why mirrors?

Do you really want to see all that stuff on your peninsula reflected in the mirrors, plus your kitchen cabinets?

Does that console usually go up against that wall? If it does, get a large piece of art and a table lamp.

Can you show more of the space and how it is normally set up from different angles?

we have an open concept floor plan

    @chispa - yes

The small table doesn’t work in the space. You need something longer and possibly taller. If you want it to have an item plugged in it must go as far as where the plug is. Over top you can have a nice piece of art. In your living space i would pull the chair onto the carpet more. What is hanging? It looks very high and small too. If you are open to feedback share more pictures. This looks like the start of a bright open space, that would benefit from some fresh eyes on it.

Yes - definitely! Those are all artworks. do you think if i put more artwork on the wall, it would make it too cluttered?

Can you take a picture of the artwork you have? It looks too small and high from the images shared

Do you have any inspiration photos of rooms you love? That's a good way for others to understand what you really want.

Here's an example of a popular room with lots of artwork and photos:

Thamk you everyone for the input! on my way to shop for pictures!!

So again, no idea how open you are to feedback but if this were my room I would put the tv on that long wall, not jn an angle, and I would also put it on a longer class some. I would remove the art which is all too small for the space as currently hung. Once the tv was dealt with some of it could potentially work.

    Love the idea!

Looks like a nice space with potential.

Don't go shopping for anything right now! Post complete photos and a floor plan with measurements. Come up with a vision/plan and only then start shopping.

If it's mirrors you want to make the room look larger and brighter by reflecting light I would opt for something like this:

I agree on the tiny art. And tiny knicky knackies. Don’t use things smaller than 2‘x2’. Much larger is much better.

See how nice those three large vertical mirrors look in lisedv’s example?

One more comment: are you really tall people? Why are things hung nearly at the ceiling? A rule of thumb is to hang items at eye-height of an average person. An average person being 5’8” or so.

The mirrors you see in professionally photographed rooms are often "fixed" later to reflect a nice view, or at least a non-busy one. In real life, mirrors often reflect the debris of everyday life and make a room look cluttered and unattractive.

One nice place for a mirror is on a wall that is at a right angle to a window. Stand where you would usually be looking at it in the room, for example if it is in a dining area, sit down at the table. Then adjust the mirror location until you can see the outdoors.

A rule of thumb is to hang art with the middle at 60", adjusting if needed for the size and shape of the art.

If you take the time to do a floor plan posted here you will get a lot more actual help IMO mirrors can betricky since they reflect things often that should not be seen twice . I usually never hang art until I have figured out the room layout so start there . IMO you do not go out to buy pictures but take time to choose art you love it does not all have to happen right this minute . The space actually looks quite spacious but of course we have no real idea of the size .I do not like "gallery" walls and that is such a misnomer anyway. I think pieces of art need to be seen seperately to enjoy maybe family photos in a long hallways can be hung more like an actual gallery but still after the roon design and layout is done

Many good suggestions here. You are ready for the holidays, even if design optics are not optimal. After the holiday decor is put away take everything out of the room except major pieces of furniture and TV. As mentioned get the TV and seating set up - I like the long wall suggestion - live with that at least a week. Start to look for meaningful art pieces and sloooowly add in accessory furniture. For me, that is like getting rid of all the holiday sweets, then gradually adding in moderation (so my pants still fit). You may even find items in other rooms that work, or new place to move existing pieces.

I think it’s important to consider that wall in its entirety or DR will never look its best. First create more balance in LR, as the items are too high, not proportionate/look awkward. See difference below… your room will really benefit with this adjustment.

As not comfortable with placement, consider shelves in DR and you can experiment with items (add some black) until it feels right. Note their height and this look will connect with LR.

Center between ceiling beam and window, no matter what you add. Place mirror in a hall for example.

If not interested, add a large print over a sideboard when budget allows and don’t over accessorize.

There are great finds on Marketplace and maybe start there, ie: I found this in minutes.
