Is it safe to get GLP-1 weight‑loss prescriptions online?

last month

So I’ve been looking into GLP‑1 meds for weight loss, and I keep seeing ads for online services like MEDVi. I’m kinda tempted because getting a regular doctor’s appointment around here is a whole saga, but part of me is like… is this legit or am I about to get scammed or worse? Anyone here actually tried getting a prescription online? I’m a little nervous but also really hoping this could be an easier route. Would love to hear real experiences before I take the plunge.

I can't speak to the online experience, but I've lost 30 pounds on ZepBound. My girl made me buy clothes that fit before our recent night out:

Around August of this year I found out at a fish fry 6 in my family members are using a brand of injections to lose weight. I never heard of it but noticed the results were mixed. 2 are diabetics and lost a lot of weight with a good reason to do so, Another lost just a little weight with a mild love affair and only minor physical outlets because of back issues. The other two lost nothing and one actually gained weight. Both are totally obsessed with food unwilling to practice moderation, and favor all you can eat buffets, with no physical outlets whats so ever.

Yes the injections seem to work but still depends on the persons mindset and how dedicated they are to losing weight, no different than any other weight loss diet program. If you can't pass up 2nds and 3rds at the dinner table and won't find an outlet to burn calories it won't work for you. It's not a miracle drug and still takes discipline.

It seems to me that prescription drugs are best monitored by your actual doctor who has a full understanding of your entire body and your medical history. It sounds challenging to get a doc appointment but if your health and mental health are worth losing the weight, then it seems worth the hoops to jump through to see your real doctor.

"Both are totally obsessed with food unwilling to practice moderation."

From the anecdotal evidence of the six people I know taking these injections and pills, I have not found the above statements to be true for them at all. The medication takes away their mental obsession with food. And, it makes them feel full fast so they have no desire or mental need to eat 2nds and 3rds.

My best friend is taking it and she does feel like it is a miracle for the first time in her life to not be mentally consumed with food. It does not take disciple for her because the cravings and desires are not there to have to resist. For her food is very much like an addiction. Addictions are diseases and will power is often not enough to fight it. (Her doctor has her taking the original diabetes medication in pill form, not injections.)

I have obese family members who died from complications due to their obesity. I used to think it was all about the failure of their will power and lack of effort. I now realize they probably battled with willpower and took great efforts on a daily basis not to eat more than they already did. I wish this medication had been availble when they were alive.

This was not my experience. About a day or two after my first injection, I attended a class reunion luncheon. I hadn't had any breakfast and ordered the chicken alfredo. It was a nice not-too-big-not-too-small serving. I was very hungry and it was delicious, however, half way through I could not have eaten another bite under any circumstances. There was no dicipline involved. I took it home and ate the leftovers for lunch the next day.

You would not believe how much less food you eat without ever experiencing hunger. Some would call that a miracle drug. You eat so much less, you can eat whatever you want. I exercise very regularly and have for years.

Another terrific side effect is reduced alcohol consumption. I've never had a drinking problem, but I quit for 3 months easily. Now I just drink much less.

GLP-1 is a natural hormone your body releases after you eat. It helps control blood sugar and appetite. GLP-1 medications are synthetic versions of this hormone, and they often reduce appetite and food cravings. However, GLP-1 drugs do not work the same for everyone. People with obsessive or compulsive eating patterns can have mixed results, based on what I witnessed.

GLP-1 medications are not treatments for psychological or behavioral eating disorders, or for other mental health conditions that drive eating behaviors. They also do not cure these disorders and are not psychiatric medications. In cases where eating is strongly influenced by conditions like OCD, anxiety, or other mental health issues, therapy and sometimes psychiatric medications may be needed. This is why it’s important to see a healthcare provider for a full evaluation and not an online service.

Of the six people I witnessed using the drug, two did not lose any weight. One has had OCD since childhood, and another has severe social anxiety. In their cases, GLP-1 medication alone did not lead to any weight loss, and trying to get either one to take a walk would be like teaching a rock how to swim.
