Parfuma Sunrise... A Fantastic Rose!

Friends,

This is Parfuma Sunrise. I got her from Palatine and installed her in my local community garden.

She has been healthy, fragrant, colorful, floriferous, tame! All around fantastic. Don't walk... Run! Star is releasing her this year, so go ahead and call your favorite nurseries to see if they have her on order.

I have her planted beside Bliss and she is equal to standout ship shape. More fragrant than Bliss. Stronger fragrance and stronger color than Bliss. Very well behaved habit like Bliss. One of the Best Kordes I have seen.

Also, I would not recommend planting Bliss beside Sunrise because they look so similar. I will probably move one or the other and replace with a rose that has more contrast in color. But if you look at them from afar, they look very similar.

If you have been on the hunt for Bliss and can't find it, Sunrise would be a choice substitute.

@BenT (NorCal 9B Sunset 14) do you have a similar assessment of Parfuma Sunrise? I've been thrilled!

Note the Kordes Rosen blackspot rating.

Any problem down by you no spray this year, Sunny?

    Sunny

I think it’ll be an amazing rose. The scent is to die for, fruit and perfume. I got mine late summer, so not really able to tell about repeat bloom. Has repeat been good for you?

It is interesting, like rifis mentioned it is rated only 3 stars from blackspot while bliss is 4 and earth angel is 5.

sunnys area is very close to me so anything that does well there I want to try no matter the rating.

Rifis when I get a chance I will take a pic of what Sunrise currently looks like. Her foliage is similar to Bliss and Earth Angel. Trelor roses listed Sunrise as a four health rating. I would put her foliage on par with Raspberry Cupcake, Bliss, Earth Angel, Savannah.. Very good, excellent no-spray in this hot and humid area. She is not spotless because she is not plastic and I don't spray :) But she is very clean in her first year and I am very pleased. Also, I sometimes struggle to distinguish the differences of Black Spot and Cercospora, both run rampant here, but Parfuma Sunrise is a keeper, very clean for a no-spray rose. She never defoliated from disease, not even halfway.

Ben.. funny story.. so I planted her in this new, local community garden we have and there is no fence. The deer were absolutely horendous this year. For at least four months I hardly saw any blooms or new foliage for that matter until we finally landed on a product they couldnt stand. PLANTSKYDD was the only product that kept them away. We used the concentrate and the granuals. All that to say, the repeat was hard to judge this year. She was one of the first to bloom this spring and seemed very much on par with Bliss to me in bush form, bloom power, flower form, foliage health...

Hoping we get a fence in the next few months... I'm going to make score cards for the roses and yank the ones that do not perform.

Plantskydd worked the best for moose in Alaska, too.

Rigis this is Parfuma Sunrise foliage today.. when compared side by side it was not as full as Bliss and Plum Perfect, but a contender I would say.

Sheila so happy Plantskydd worked for you. We learned the hard way NOT to spray it on plants near a white fence. It was also sprayed on the white house eek! Not easy to remove..

Thank you @Sunny Mississippi 8a and @Lilyfinch z9a Murrieta Ca for the pictures and report. This is one I’ve considered but I definitely need to find it now. I was excited to hear that it’s very cold hardy too.

I love this rose. Mine is in its second year and on its third flush this season. The colour is deeper than in its first year. The blooms are huge, the foliage lovely, new growth is plum/bronze coloured and it's very healthy in my BS prone area. It's also a nicely shaped bush. I have Bliss and Plum Perfect. Bliss is 'elbows and knees' for me, as Ben put it. Plum Perfect is in its first year and is crazily vigorous and healthy but I don't love the colour.
