help finding an siding and trim color to match the stone on our ranch

Hello everyone. We are looking to reside our house with polymer shingles. In addition we’d like to replace the trim and paint the front and garage doors. The current siding is a yellow cream, which I don’t love. I’m also not fond of plastic shutters, so would like to remove those. The roof, now covered in snow is black. I’ve been reading about how to pick exterior colors. The more I read, the more I am afraid of getting it wrong. I would love some ideas. FYI, I don’t love the columns on the front entrance and may also replace those with something that works better with a traditional ranch.

The yellow siding you already have goes well with the stone. Cant see the color of your roof.

Polymer shingles are roofing so what is it you plan for siding or just painting the siding you have ?The stone is colorful choose a color from it for the siding and none of those windows should have shutters so good call. I would do a really dark almosr black roof to work with a multitude of colorf ro siding and a new much nicer door . If by chance I am mistaken and you are putting shingle type siding on thta house stop now thet house does not suit shingle style siding IMHO

" Polymer shingles are roofing "

@Patricia Colwell Consulting No they are not. Polymer shingles are like a vinyl (Certainteed, Nailite or similar). What brand are you looking at as not all brands are available everywhere.

IMO the canopy over your door would look better supported by brackets and not the columns.

I think your home would look best with just white siding with the dark stone.

If you change the siding perhaps you'd consider Board and Batten siding to make your home look taller.

I'd think a warm sagish green or greenish taupe would work. You would be fine with cream, tan or taupe.

My thought is not to match the applied stone color with trim, but match the trim to the low profile black roof. I like this for your stone entry and stone front right side. Do window trim, black, door trim black, and then choose a color you love for the front door.

As for the clapboard color, I would match the darkest in the stone. I think it would look great and also work with the foundation color. Something like this...your call, as I can't trust my monitor.

Painting the brick and clapboard a single uniform color unifies the facade.

The roof is black and the polymer singles are a vinyl siding that looks like a shingle. My contractor works with a company called Certainteed. I picked the shingles because the ranch has a traditional feel to it and has double hung windows and because the shingles looked like wood vs vinyl. That said, I’m open to board and button. Thank you all for the suggestions. For some reason I can’t reply to individual comments. I like the ideas for the canopy over the door. I also love the suggestions for taupe, sage and the dark brownish green. Those were colors I was considering as I thought they would pick up the colors in the stone and make the house look and feel a little less dated.

I like your idea to remove the shutters :)

We have Old Chicago Brick on our home. Your colors seem very similar. We did exactly what Sigrid suggested. We choice a tan that looks green to my eye at times. For trim we went with a color much like the darkest reddish I see in your brick.

    Our roof is a brown.

Am gling to suggest a taupe color for the siding. I think that should coordinate with the stone rather well.
