Is this worth following up on Gutter / Fascia / rain-snow drips?

last month

I had new gutters put in place a couple of years ago. We notice that some water (not a lot) seeps between the fascia and the gutter in two different gutters near each of the downspouts. It is not a lot of water (not a puddle on ground below).

The question is: Is it something that needs to be fixed (and we should contact the company that installed them) or is it too small to matter?

Just bumping this up in case anyone has any thoughts.

Thanks millworkman. I have had the conversation with the company and they seemed responsive and fixed one of the same issues on another gutter. Unfortunately we didn't catch these other two similar issues before they came. I was thinking this was perhaps too small of an issue but I will go back to them. I appreciate your response.

A typical cause is the drip edge leg does not overhang the gutter. This happens when they have to drop the gutter on long runs to get enough slope. A less likely (in that installation is wrong) cause is the shingles do not overhang the drip edge adequately, or there is no drip edge.

Getting on a ladder to see would answer some questions.

Thanks 3onthetree! The installers have agreed to come back and take a look. I was initially concerned it wasn't worth their or my time as it seemed like such a small issue. Thank you for the explanation.

Thanks for your thoughts, I'll keep this in mind. It's winter here and so the inspection of the issue is a bit slow to accomplish, but we are getting there and working with the company who replaced the gutters.

I 100% agree with 3onthetreee ( although I prefer fouronthefloor (: ) and will expand for benefit of diyers. When and if gutters are not overlapped by drip edge , the solution is simple and inexpensive. Insert flat flashing behind drip edge and overlapping rear of gutter. Not an easy thing to find and when you do or if you make your own it generally curls and waves so bad it's difficult to install and/or less effective than desired. Pay an hvac duct fab shop to make flashing. 1 or 2 small vee grooves keep flashing straight and ridged.

Thank you klem1 for sending the info for DIYers - it gives me an even better understanding of the issue. I'm looking forward to hearing what my gutter contractor says and your info gives me more of an understanding of the issue.
