Engineered Hardwood Floor Discontinued— How to Match Existing Floor?

We live in a townhome in Florida with a screened in porch (lanai). We are enclosing the lanai to extend our dining room and create more interior living space. The existing wood floor is engineered hardwood (European French Oak) and has unfortunately been discontinued. I have reached out to the manufacturer and searched everywhere to no avail, so now we are trying to match-as best we can- the color and “weave” it in so that it flows. We are able to match the wood species and specs; it is the color that is difficult. We do not have the budget to refinish our current floor and stain the new one to match. The current floor runs throughout our downstairs (living room, kitchen, dining room) The extension is only a 12 x 12 room and in the new layout, the dining table will be directly over the area adjacent to the existing floor. Please tell me your thoughts. Has anyone done this and been happy with the results?

Why not use ceramic tile in a different color. I think that would look better than a swing and a miss on matching the wood. OR what about getting UNFINISHED engineered and having it finished to match.

Unfinished engineered wood floors installed by a real wood floor guy, who can then match the new stain to the old floors.

Unfinished is available from Hurst.Hardwoods and Monarch Plank.among others. Ciranova Ecofix Plus or Bona Traffic are finishes.

Don't go by the sample when you are a match. Get a box.

A "Pretty good" match could appear as "just missed". Consider making contrast your friend; it will look like you meant it that way.

"Enclosing" to gain conditioned living area, does NOT preclude a different flooring material. What are the windows., their elevation? What do the elevations look like? I'd treat it as a SUN ROOM/dining spot and get a tile. NOT a wood look tile.....

Otherwise ? Refinish/stain the new flooring to match the older., but the reason you are doing it is to gain conditioned living space, no different than converting a screened porch to a four season "sun room"
