Need advice on how to transition from family room to kitchen

last month

New kitchen cabinets installed and need advice on how I can transition from my kitchen to my family room. There is an L shaped peninsula that extends into the family room on the shared wall. There is a loft area above the kitchen which seems like a natural vertical line of demarcation (in the picture you can see that the floating shelves are just about an 1.5" shorter than the loft area) the only problem is that the countertop extends about 11" beyond that line(as you can see in the first photo where the old top was removed). The current paint color is unflattering against the canvas colored cabinets. I first thought about running some molding down from the loft to the countertop but because the top extends beyond that point, it would not look good at all. My 2nd choice is to run the backsplash to the ceiling and across the window top to meet the cabinet (the backsplash will start at the countertop, no 4" quartz backsplash and I am installing quartz just behind the stove). If I do that, would I run it even with the floating shelves coming up short where it meets the corner of the loft area or extend it the 1.5" to run even where the loft meets the kitchen opening? The 3rd choice is to run the backsplash to the bottom of the top shelf and paint above and over to the cabinet but again, how do I smoothly transition that area? Maybe run a molding just to the top of the upper shelf? Lastly, would you run the backsplash along the side wall to the front of the cabinet to the right? I realize I'm asking a lot but any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
