Please see revised layout. I'd change to a larger ceiling fan. NO light kit on the fan. You need more lamps in room. I'd consider mounting the TV over the fireplace in this room.

Thank you! We have a lamp between the sofa and blue recliner - not sure how it is floating in the pic. I will look at the idea of TV above the fireplace - it would be pretty high unless we remove the mantel. But would also give lot of seating flexibility.

I started with idea of a sectional, but I keep reading cautions about moving them to different home and I expect we will move in the next 3-5 years.

The tv can go over the fireplace. You might have to remove the mantel so that it is not too high. The furniture orientation seems wrong to me. The larger sofa should be up against the wall.

You don't need to remove the mantel to install the TV on the fireplace, use a pull-down mount.

interesting idea! my husband is concerned with the boxes that are associated with the tv, but I think they are wireless so could be tucked somewhere
