Nightstand Suggestions to Pair with CB2 Egan Mahogany Dresser

last month
last modified: last month

Hi everyone! I love the CB2 Egan mahogany wood dresser (see photo below), but I don’t want the matching nightstands. I need nighstands with at least one drawer and I'm not looking for very light colored wood. I'd like our bedroom to be elegantly modern. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I think the nightstands are exceptional. I would not pass on them. If you do you'll have to contrast the dresser with your selection, and not many items are going to complement that unique dresser.

Getting a nightstand to complement that Art Deco design will be difficult.

If you are going to spend $3500+ for a dresser- perhaps consider looking for a vintage piece... in the Modern and/or MCM genre.

They mostly don’t make furniture the way they used to; and while the CB2 dresser has a nice style- imo, it is overpriced.

This piece below is nice and also less costly on the base price- although I don’t know how much of a money savings it would be with the Chairish shipping; you would need to check and negotiate price on item and shipping. But, even if it ended up costing you the same as CB2 one (which I don’t think it would) - this one is a better quality piece, imo.

Just one example and if you’re interested you can also look around.

Switch your STATEMENT! The night stands are beautiful and HAVE the drawers you want. The bed is the statement in a room! These paired with an upholstered bed, beautiful; lamps? Gorgeous!

LOSE the dresser you love for the bedsides.....? Save $$$$?

Wayfair dresser, the curve is a bit acknowledged. The LESS noticeable piece in a bedroom, by far.

"Statement, pieces? You either match, or settle.: )

Buy the suite, and with an upholstered bed, rugs,,,lamps you will have a gorgeous room. But failing that? You will struggle mightily in your attempt to be "close" but a NON match, no matter where you make the statement: )

If you aren't going to match your dresser then I will suggest that you play up the contrast between the dresser and nightstands. Will suggest this style.

IMO the matching night tables ate the way to go . I think almost any other style will look cheap.

    !!

Agree 100% with Patricia., or find something else to love. Don't miss!

That's exactly what happens if you Google your brains out, The reason? For an online, mass market source? The dresser style and finish and the companion bedsides are pretty darn special. All else mass market will pale....or be a total miss.

While we often say DON'T MATCH? There are exceptions,,,,,,and this is one of those. It demands a very polished, very urbane feel in the space. The match suite effect is totally appropriate, and desirable, Think urbane LUXURY. Rather like a high end Baker Furniture/ Barbara Barry feel. : )

EVen there........not really IT. Do the suite or let it go: )

If you just complement the wood there will be more choices and add curves in other ways so as to highlight/pull in the dresser (use brass as well).

Thank you so much for everyones suggestions! I am so glad there is this forum on Houzz! I hadn't wanted matchy matchy but I see everyone's point and may go with the set. @freedomplace1- the other dresser I love is MCM (see pic) however I can't find one for sale, even needing a refinish.

    TRY CHAIRISH..........?? : )

Charish will always link to 1st dibs. Look for same flavor and not a perfect match.

Depending on what your vision is, that dresser suggested by Jan along with the matching nightstands is quite attractive and similar in styling.

American Drew Richmond sold all over the country.

    ^^

It's from my post way above! With your nightstands versus getting the dresser! ( put the sensational next to a sensational upholstered bed, NOT just a headboard.

Did you miss post? : ) as you Houzz on your I phone? It6 happens!

    or........???

I can see why you love it. Gorgeous, however, at that price it is not an investment. Try and sell it in a year or two, you won't recoup a fraction of what you are paying.

@JAN MOYER -Hi Jan, I did see your post and thought it was a great idea! I hadn't really thought about the bed and nighstands being the focal point which is so true! I am kind of stuck on this dresser though more than anything. @JUDY GRAHAM -I absolutely agree with your statement. We do plan on having it for a long time (my husband says forever ;)

If you are "stuck on it" you're stuck! Then do the side tables to match!

It's an elegant, and polished look.......WITH ONE CAVEAT,

It will remain so with care, gentle use. Do not kid yourself. This is veneer on "sustainable" ( read fast growing ) mahogany., source Indonesia, a wet and humid climate, where it then rides to USA .....across the ocean.

    Lat line of care below....

    • Dust with soft dry cloth.
    • Do not leave spills unattended.
    • Do not use abrasive cleaner.
    • Blot spills immediately with a clean, absorbent white cloth.
    • Protect from heat and liquids.
    • Slight fading may occur in direct sunlight.
    • Each piece will vary due to unique wood characteristics
    • wood is a natural material that expands and contracts with moisture

But I 100% agree the styling is beautiful

Hate to say? The true value for "forever: is probably here; in the vintage.

    "AI Overview

In the 1960s, Lane furniture, especially iconic lines like Acclaim and Perception, was known for its mid-century modern style, blending Scandinavian design with American craftsmanship using quality woods like walnut, often with contrasting inlaid woods (fruitwood, ash) in distinctive patterns like dovetailing, featuring solid construction, hand-rubbed finishes, and clever marketing as accessible luxury for the middle class. They utilized techniques like moisture-resistant plywood (Lanewood) and achieved a sophisticated look through sculptural shapes, rounded edges, and textured accents like woven wood, all at a mid-range price point, making them popular bestsellers.
