Why must the tv be on that wall? The cable outlet is there? That's an easy fix in today's technology. It appears you have room at the right of the window, and room to wall mount and have a bracket allowing swing.

Notably, every stick of everything in the room is brown. .......? Understand budgets, but. At least a colorful rug, maybe some inexpensive stools in a color some toss pillows.. and almost and window covering is a better look than mini blinds.

Art is what speaks to you, and mirrors, should reflect something more than a blank wall : )

If you draw and measure the space, note the island placement, the entry door, , the window location, all the solid walls and their dimension, and opening to another space ?

    There's undoubtedly a better furniture placement. : )

Upload it as a jpeg, neat and legible. graph paper is fine.

agree, the TV is better suited swapped with the sofa.

mount the TV and place the cabinet between the kitchen and living room.

No need for mirrors, unless you need one by the door. Plent of natural window light in the room.

a large canvas to fill the wall above the sofa. Drapery panels to soften the space, even a pattern since everything else is one tone.

Definitely need window treatments before wall decor.

I don't have dimensions but have you tried this furniture layout in your room?

Layout precedes decor. The current layout is terrible with sofa blocking the window. Decor isn't going fix that. Usually a sofa is placed on the longest unbroken wall or floating in the room. Your room looks very unbalanced. Plus you have a sea of brown--sofa, coffee table, all the chairs, stools, a rug that disappears into the floor. Decor isn't going to fix that either. If you want a lively, comfortable, inviting space, consider the following:

    Layout #1:

    --Move sofa to TV wall.

--Move TV to current sofa wall. Your TV console will fit perfectly there.

--Add a small console shelf by the front door and put your mirror over that. It doesn't serve any purpose where you have it. In a small space, every piece needs to have a job.

    Or Layout #2:

--Float sofa to face the two windows. Put a narrow sofa table behind it to create a landing spot for keys, mail, etc. This gives you an entryway, which you don't currently have.

--Place TV to the left of the windows.

--Get rid of dead decor items like fake plant, dried stuff in the vase, etc. You have a small space. Get rid of all small pieces--like the useless ottoman. Make an impact with better choices of layout then rug and art.

--Don't buy any more bulky brown furniture or small pieces unless they are functional like the suggested sofa table if you change layout or an entry shelf.

    After layout is improved:

--Get an art work in browns and golds (to echo flooring).

--Get a patterened rug in browns and golds and change sofa pillows accordingly.

--Get a new coffee table with clear top so new rug can be seen through it. Move your chairs out of the corners and closer to sofa to create conversational grouping.

--Get light bamboo shades as lisedv shows or ceiling to floor curtains the same shade as the walls.
