For an updated look I suggest you replace the dated TV wall unit. For any furniture layout suggestions you need to provide a floor plan showing all dimensions, windows, doors, entrance to the open concept room.

Two swivel chairs in front of the fireplace and two 3-seater sofas where the current sofas are.

First get rid of thta hulk of a TV cabinet they are so dated and not needed anymore . A nice low cabinet with the TV wall mounted at the proper viewing height is where to start . If you must then add some shelving minimal at best or maybe just one very long cabinet to have some art on the wall and the TV and still some storgae and a bit of display.. Then 2 sofas and 2 chairs forget the sofa table and spread the furniture out a bit . The cabinet lisedv shows is a good one for an idea.

You mean you have your table at 19 feet from tv wall?

WHAT defines the 19. feet? Or the 19 feet begins at wall of cabinetry. A good FURNITURE plan comes from ALL of the information! Do the homework and the FREE reward is a good plan.

Windows ,openings, the built in..... all of it matters. . You spend money AFTER you have a good plan, or you can guess

You need a RUG What size? who knows, that means more INFO, accurate info from you.

Appreciate the help Jan. did not know how detailed I should get. table starts at 22.7 feet. built in next to fire place is 6 feet wide. wall of cabinetry for kitchen wrap around begins at 17.4. window, french door, window section measures 12 feet. window by fireplace looks at side yard but also air conditioning unit is visable. dog crate is not permanent. we are puppy training

that looks great! do you think I have to have the cabinet guy make it so it matches the kitchen? Im not sure what color would look best

  • PRO

No way do you match the kitchen! You can BUY this. You already have a "built in" and mile of cabinetry!

There are literally a zillion media cabinets online, , To include pieces that can be butted together to get to a length you want. .......the REAL money /focus should be comfortable seating, get as much quality in that, and this piece just needs to look good!

    Example of butt together?

Right here!.......and you have TEN feet! used of your available 15' for a grand!

Of course there are others: ) But it need not be built unless you want a specific finish...or a paint color.

I tried restoration hardware, cant make it work, arhous either, I will look at nathan james. I want it to be light but not yellow tone. I am thinking a light grey

RH has a reclaimed oak reeded console in a light grey but the dimmensions are huge. either I go with largest at 96 or double smaller ones with smallest size 140 ish to 190

I would do anything but light gray, in fact I would avoid it in nearly everything. Over done for a decade. Skip it in upholstery too!

however.it's your home .....let me not forget that lol

126" below...Nathan James Reeded - four finishes "light brown below

yes my dilemma. but I have dark brown floors, edgecomb grey walls, black granite in kitchen although island is white, and a grey fireplace. A light brown like above will clash. Interesting your comment that light grey is outdated. figures. what colors are they showing that are light and airy.... I have a dog so its tough. thank you again for your help.

It will not " clash " . with your flooring, White with black in a kitchen is 100% neutral.

Edgecomb ( Ben Moore) I am more than familiar with,..............and I have used gallons as have many, many others........pretty neutral and possible to change as well.

You do not HAVE a dilemma, It isn't about "Light and airy!! " ....it's about a warmer palette, Your kitchen, your flooring , ....your fire.......work with far more than you realize.

You think RH doesn't believe in a warming trend? HAH! I have never in my life seen more beige/camel in a single telephone book side catalogue.

THEY....... have gone w.a.r.m, along with design in general, Finishes, colors.

Ii isn't that gray isn't present.....its far less all about gray, marble morphed to travertine,,,it's earthier>

MIX marble yes, WARM burnished metal...

    As to the hearth?

I'd want a change.......Too busy, and I would not marry myself to a palette AROUND it

Because your floors are far prettier,: )

yeah I saw that, I just didnt think my color palate and that went together. funny how trends change. My first house was warm honeys, this house cool now what

What, other than the fire is so 'cool"?

Moving anywhere, sometimes means a tweak to paint. Maybe you change the fire,. What you don't do, is think you are in a fixed shell because of paint, or a white kitchen that works with every color on the planet.

You don't plan to have it 100% finished in two weeks.....

That is WHY I wanted the dimensions - and yes I had to cobble your text and Jpegs to do it. .

No designer buys without a plan. . Nor do they guess.
