Acrylic to cover openings patio roof and wall?

last month

What professional could customize acrylic coverings for patio roof and wall openings?

Handyman nailed screens on but debris still comes through. HOA won't

allow construction. Any other ideas?

Probably polycarbonate but that will not stop the debris and what is thta exactly? IMO you get rid of whatever is causing that mess .

Thanks Patricia Colwell Consulting. It's leaves from a huge tree above the patio, plus just debris from heavy rain (acorns, etc.) Yes I can get it all cleaned out, but my goal is to block it from slipping on to the patio through the screen if it piles up again. It's the patio floor that I'm trying to keep cleaner. Here's the tree above that roof opening. HOA won't let us cut it down.

So this was an opening in a mostly covered patio? Why not just put glass up there vs " acrylic coverings " ? I see you have ill fitting screens over the open hole scrolly brick work. You can't do construction so you can't make this a full three season porch and you can't cut down the tree (which really would only reduce debris not eliminate it) , but you can put things in the hole as long as it's still clear? What happens if you suddenly 'NEED' and new roof on this area? Truly glass/screen/ acrylic coverings still mean you have to LOOK at that mess. I would get some ply wood and shingles.

Wonder about polycarbonate at an angle so the debris slides off and doesn’t collect there? I’d prob leave it open for the natural light and clean up what falls thru

Thank you la_la Girl I hadn't thought of putting a cover at an angle. Good idea!

Thank you arcy_gw! Good points. HOA rules...supposed to have an opening in the patio so that's why they left it like this. But I agree; maybe just board it up. The

light is nice though, but the mess majes it unusable without constant cleaning.

None of these ideas will work to stop the debris from collecting so I think easier to clean up off the patio flooor than rying to get rid of it when it collects there .

A bubble type skylight might work. The debris should slide off it.

On the easier side, you can ask the HOA's gardening service if they can blow off the debris every week when they make their usual visit.

Edited to add: you can try blowing your own leafblower up from inside your own patio. It may dislodge the debris and prevent buildup if you do it frequently.

A bubble and/or tipped panel are great ideas. I would assume that would not be allowed given what we know so far of the HOA.

Do they ever prune the tree? Most large trees can get a 30% pruning if you use a good licensed tree service.

My previous town was very picky with what could be done with the large Live Oaks in that area and even they would allowed homeowners to do a good 30% pruning with licensed tree companies the town had vetted.

Maybe offer to pay to get it pruned?

chispa thank you: thinking of prevention in the first place - good idea. I will look into that.

arcy_gw Thank you. I will contact skylight companies - it's a good idea.

apple_pie_order Thank you! I hadn't thought of a blower from inside pointed to the roof opening. And on the patio floor would help too.

Patricia Colwell Consulting: thanks. You may be right. If all else fails, just keep cleaning it. It's more seasonsl anyway.

I'll get some businesses to look at it for their input, but keep your idea in mind.
