What to do with space along this wall…

Hi, just wanted to get some thoughts on what I should do with this wall… I’d prefer to keep furniture as is. Will likely add a lamp to the bookshelf (along with a few small pieces). New desk chair coming soon (in leather, similar to the leather accents on armchair in the corner). Do you think two square frames, like I drew in the photo, would work? Maybe black & white or sepia photos? What color frames? Thanks!

Get rid of the smaller furniture pieces, add one large piece. A large bookshelves with decorative accents . Or add a matching armchair, side table and lamp or large plant.

Post pictures of the entire room. Is this an office?

YOU NEED TO PROVIDE PHOTOS OF ALL FOUR WALLS OF THE ROOM! There's not enough visual information to provide helpful suggestions. A room isn't about one wall or one problem. The entire room needs to be taken into account. I can't imagine how that bitty chair fits into the function of the space. Is it a dining room, living room, family room? More photos needed of the ENTIRE space.

More photos… as mentioned above, I’d prefer to keep the furniture as is. The chair doesn’t work in any other space in our house and I love how the colors look with the painting. We’ll likely do sconces on each side of the abstract painting (unless a picture light would look better).

So it's an office. Who knew? Do you do Zoom meetings? The painting is fine by itself. In an office function should dictate decor. Is the chair for reading during work hours? Don't you need bookshelves in your office space? Make it a reading corner. Leave painting as is and skip the sconces.

Love what you have done so far. The colors look great together.

In the initial post I stated that a new desk chair was coming soon so I assumed it was known that it was an office (apologies for any confusion). The black bookshelf is for our books (see photo). Thank you!

Bookcase needs to be far more substantial and taller. I would put a table below the art or a storage unit for papers and files. I also think you need a nice desk chair and a couple of comfy chairs for Im front LD the desk.

I wait for more info. Waht do you need to do your work in the space . The book shelf is great for a kids room. Do you need printer, files etc . The art if you love is great but looks lonely on that wall maybe a row of bookcases below it could work. Why a plaid rug? I do not like seeing a buunch of wires as soon as you enter a space .at least find a way to contain them along the desk edge

I really like how it is evolving thus far. Since it is an office, I would get all the functional stuff in first, like the lamp on the bookcase, and then see about the pretty stuff.

I know you said you loved the existing desk placement, but have you tried it between the two windows, perpendicular to the wall? Facing the entry door, with the other chair on the opposite side of the desk, like a client sitting in front of you? an outlet against the wall for a table lamp and computer plug.

Both chairs have view of outdoors. If not on the window wall, centered opposite so the windows are clear for access.

A large tall bookcase/storage unit on the wall (all the mess is hidden from view as you look into the office) The wall behind the office desk/chair has the large art so video calls have a nice backdrop.
