Debra: Which Wilkerson daylilies did you grow?

Just curious which ones you did grow in your former garden or now in your new garden?

Thanks

Julia

mantis: just saw your clump pic of My Heart Belongs To Daddy on the other site and it is gorgeous. Thank you for the info. I also like the For Ever and For Always. Have you had that one long?

Julia - The best performer of all the Wilkersons I grew was the pink Sugar Magnolia, Nan's only dormant. Brad sent me a start of that one last Spring. Besides Busy Being Fabulous, I grew:

My Heart Belongs to Daddy - multiplied slower than other Wilkersons for me. The bloom was striking but did not show the lighter edge when temps were cooler.

Genie in a Bottle was good grower and multiplier.

My Mama Thinks I'm a Star was a fast multiplier that rebloomed some years.

Olly Olly Oxen Free was a slower multiplier. Blooms were gorgeous.

Princess Charming - Shorter than her others but a fast multiplier and a good rebloomer

Once Bitten Twice Shy - Excellent multiplier and reliable rebloomer.

I also grew Crazy Miss Daisy and Jumping Jack Flash in pots for two to three years until they died one very bad winter. Both of those had high bud counts (18-22) and rebloomed for me. I highly recommend both of those.

I enjoyed all my Wilkersons. It's hard to find sources for them anymore, but there are a few of them available here and there.

For Ever and For Always planted in 2020. Height was lower last year, but it was a rough winter. My Heart Belongs has been here a long time and divided a couple of times. It is not tall, but has been consistent.

Julia: I grew one years ago. The color faded and the scapes needed staking. Floppy blooms is one of my least favorite things.

Tammy Faye was not vigorous here, and as Maryl notes, had weak stems. My Heart was divided last year, and I would agree takes a while to recover. It is a fairly popular plant, I think, partly because of the name. This is the only pic from this year.

Julia: Everyone knows I'm not much into UF's, but I always thought Debra's Sugar Magnolia was one of the prettiest ones every year she grew it. I don't know how Nan's is doing for her though..............Maryl

Sugar Magnolia has been great for me, fast multiplier and lots of buds, fairly tall.

seedlings crossed with Chance Encounter: Was new this year but did well--note the buds.

Brad: Nice photo of Sugar Magnolia. Do you think it looks similar to Judy Davisson "Boss Lady"? I just got BL last fall so trying to not add daylilies that look similar to ones I already have.

    Thanks

Julia, yes I think it and Boss Lady look very much alike. The main difference is that Sugar Magnolia is a little over 9" whereas Boss Lady is 7.

Julia - Both Boss Lady and Sugar Magnolia are out of Webster's Pink Wonder, and I do think they look similar.

Brad - I like your seedlings out of Sugar Magnolia, and it's good to know they have good bud counts.
