You can curtain just the bottom portion of a window…that’s a cafe curtain. And top-down Roman shades do the same thing…provide privacy on bottom while letting in the light/view above…as much or as little as you want. I ordered custom Roman shades with the top down option from Home Depot on North Ave 5 years ago for our Chicago condo…love them!! They will come and measure, you place order, they come and install after the shades are made! Great service!

I was in a really similar situation and ended up trying stained glass window film for daytime privacy. It worked out better than I expected. It gives you that extra privacy during the day, but still lets in plenty of natural light so the space doesn’t feel dark or closed off.

One thing I liked is how easy it was to install. It just uses water to stick, so no permanent adhesive. And if you ever want to change it out later, you can just peel it off without damaging the glass. It felt like a simple, low-commitment solution that actually made a noticeable difference.
