I don’t see how anything other than removing those items will help you with the space. Do you not have any other space to

store these items? It certainly doesn’t look like building doors to enclose those items is even a possibility.

I see a lot of fabric crates, over a curtained shelf area... a hodge podge something in front of that.

Nobody can assess an improvement without a DAYLIGHT picture, all the rest of your space. The black fabric boxes are no worse that what is below them

Tun the lights on then take a pic . But reall how odd this is I need to see the whole space for sure. I do not want to be snoopy but what is stored tha is so special it needs to be there at all.

Either put matching curtains from the ceiling --- triangles, so they fit. You can hang them from wires attached to your beams. If you can't find triangles, you can cut them and sew or use fusible sewing tape you iron into a hem.

Or you can find some more attractive containers for your stuff.

Do you forsee this as a long or short term storage plan? A drape in this triangular area will just be moderately better I’m afraid— it won’t be easy to get it to hang well and disguise everything. I don’t expect that there is a truly attractive way to use this surface for so much storage. An outdoor storage shed?

It would be nice to see your whole room too. But honestly a drape will not look better than what you have. Waht is behind that drape now ?

I agree that a drape will not look better. You're going to have to build some type of storage for the top. Yes....you will lose some space, but it will look better than what's there now.

Put some type of door(bi-fold?) on the bottom.

I am sure you have already tried, but is there any other possible space in your home? The cushions on the left may be able to lay flat and slid under a bed. The totes may have items that can be integrated into other drawers or cabinets, or maybe moved out. I see they are labeled, maybe rent a storage locker - although that can be pricey and at time inconvenient.

I agree check out under bed storage containers there are many on Amazon . Reall the best choice is nothing up there

perhaps you can post another picture from further back and also show the rest of the room for more suggestions.

That is a ton of great storage. Can you have a drywall enclosure built?

If not, I'd do a lazy fix: Keep your current curtains. Purchase more panels of the same fabric. Run a strip of velcro on the ceiling. Attach the fabric to the velco so it lays flat (no pleats). Hem tape it where it meets the curtain rod. Have a split in the middle so you can access it from either half. Do the same for the exposed side.

Then paint the sides of the close walls the same color as your fabric so it all blends in.

I was looking for something that could be trimmed to the triangle shape you have up there, and these beaded curtains came up, maybe interesting to disguise the stuff but still have easy access to it. These are on Amazon.

Here's another idea... you seemed to have a computer screen in front of the curtains so I'm showing a desk on casters.

Show the entire space, all four walls, and you're likely to get some creative suggestions you may not have thought of.

OP is AWOL on the suggestions. I wonder if this is a clutter issue not a storage issue. It looks as if there's a lot of other stuff on the sides, back of the door, in what little we can see. Think about hiring an organizer to get the space well organized--maybe cheaper than building some kind of structure to hide what's up there. It would help the OP view the space differently instead of thinking all that stuff has to go up there.

Storage in general is an issue. Some back ground. I have a 1 bedroom house and had to move my Mom in. So this space is the living room and my bedroom. I have no basement or garage. The shed is full of my Mom’s belongings that we need to purge once we can access the shed in the spring.
The stuff up there is Christmas decorations , suitcases and the cushions from my outdoor furniture. At the moment there is absolutely no place to put the stuff but hate laying in bed looking at it each day.
I was thinking of building panels with fabric on a frame that I can hang from the ceiling but the fabric with the Velcro sounds like it might be the quickest temporary fix.

Thanks for info on why the storage is needed now that your mother is living with you. If you move your things to the storage shed once spring comes, you can put the suitcases etc. in big clear plastic trash bags to keep the inevitable dust and dirt off them.

A pair of curtains that go to the ceiling would look like the area was designed to be that way, like @lisedv shows. See if you can use one of the standard lengths such as 108 inches and just move the current curtain rod up nearly to the ceiling.
