"Should I try and dig up what I can and bring them inside?"

No. Digging up mature/established plants to bring inside - even temporarily - is far more likely to be damaging or destructive than leaving them in place to withstand the cold.

Depending on the plant, remay or harvest cloth maybe all the cold protection you need. Or caging the plant loosely with chicken wire, etc. and stuffing the cage with fallen leaves or straw. Just make sure the soil/plant is full hydrated and use a light, breathable fabric to protect, not heavy or plastic.

The type of freeze can make a huge difference, but with a nearby storm system forming I suspect this will be the more dangerous type of advective freeze that is harder to protect against.

I saw a lot of damaged plants in Jacksonville during that trip. Though fundamentally agreeing with Gardengal48, I would add a caveat that there's a small group of plants that are 1) very tender with a 2) discrete root system that make more sense to try to take indoors after all. I'm not an expert on Florida landscaping though, so I can't believe sure what those would be and someone else should provide that level of detail. I don't remember the varieties but in the Jacksonville botanical garden, some bromeliads looked fine after their freeze into the mid 20s...some looked damaged. Bromeliads are generally easy to transplant, as their root system is mainly just for anchoring. So for example, my south facing garage 'cold greenhouse' is a little too brisk for my pineapple so it stays in a (plant light - lighted) closet inside for winter - it has never minded being dug up for the indignity of yearly repotting!
