Is it okay to have a grab bar that is shorter than the niche?

last month

My shower niche is 28 1/2 inches long by 11 1/2 inches tall. Would it look okay to install a grab bar underneath that is 24 inches long (26" to ends of flanges)? Anything longer seems too long. Is there a formula for determining length of grab bar in relation to shower niche size?

24" to 30" long are the most popular.

Standard height from floor:: 33"–36" above finished floor (ADA guideline range)

I think either way can work. But is your shower already built? The grab bar needs to be mounted to studs to be secure.
