Put where? Cover the area that opens to the other room or underneath only? Or area where the tall cabinet is?

What is this? Looks like a gazebo built onto the side of a room overlooking a very dark porch with a tv in it.

It's really hard to understand what that space is. Are you planning to enclose it? Unless you do, you'll need a low counter, which will be inconvenient. What about a round table?

If you enclose it and want cabinets, you'll probably need custom, because of the beveled shape of the space. You could try a rolling island or counter. Just move it out when you need it, so stuff doesn't fall on the heads of the people below.

Remove railings, build pony wall, install cabinets and counter. It’ll be a nice place to prep while watching TV or serve up snacks.

the oak cabinetry is older it appears....so the kitchen is generally going to be up for a renovation at some point. I 'd use the 110 in width from wall over to counter edge..[?I think?] and what number of inches from tall cabinet back towared the camera or where you are standing?? I'd get a freestanding work island with storage and a wood or other top. You dont mention seating and you havent knocked out the decorative details in the open section.....so I'm in the camp maybe paint those....get a new WOW center light fixture and spend what you can on a work island in the middle /you'll use it.... Good Luck.

you can source many types of freestanding units now...you havent shown the whole kitchen but it looks older so I'd stick with something moveable as shown... gussy up the rails/ change lightfixture/ etc.

change hardware to black..and paint the railing pieces black..then a light fixture w some black metal and you'll have some nice detail around a good work island

black with oak is always a simplified classic detail.

No info on your budget, what the existing kitchen looks like, nor what exactly is your plan but here's how you can fill the existing space.
