It's a wonderful greenhouse! He apologized as they did NOT have pink as an option for the color but did offer to have his friend. who paints cars, come paint it for me. I declined as I am THRILLED with it. I cant wait to start seeds for my garden in it this year and my sister, who has 30 acres that she plants every year is also VERY happy that I can start some seeds for her as well!

I admit, I do not usually have the best luck growing plants from seeds. But I am willing to try over and over and over again. Especially now that I have a proper place to do it!

WhooHoo! You are gonna have a ball with that! What a sweetheart he is!

About seed starting…I didn’t have a lot of luck until I bought a heat mat. Of course I’m a little north of you but if you can keep your new GH warm you won’t need one and will have good luck with growing lots of things from seed. I start mine in small seed starting trays with regular organic seed starting mix with a little mychorrizal mixed in. i cover with a plastic cover for about a week to keep the heat in. when things set two sets of true leaves it’s time to up-pot. I move the seedings to maybe a 3x3x3-4” pot and it can stay in there for a while. I use concentrated fish emulsion mixed with water as directed for seedlings when I water and dose them about every 2 weeks at first and then every week as they grow. This has been working well for me.

I meant to start some seeds today but the day got away from me.

You are one lucky gardener! Just think of all the things you'll be able to do in there. It needs a custom sign in pink "Amylou's Greenhouse."

Wow, that is wonderful! I don't know what part of the country you're in, but now you can get a really early start and probably over-winter some plants come fall? Like pudgeder, I'm envious. Have always wanted a little greenhouse.

Amy, I use my favorite potting soil in the bottom of the seed starting planters and at the top I like the sterile seed starting formula. It helps stop the ”damping” off. I like the seed starting trays with the clear tops to keep the moisture in until the seeds sprout. You can also put stuff like tomato or pepper seeds on a damp paper towel in a ziplock bag. Keep an eye on them and when you see a root coming out, use tweezers to move to a plant cell.

    You will need a heater.

It's big and beautiful! I am really envious! I've been trying to get back into growing from seeds. Last winter I planted salad greens, carrots, radishes and beets but overplanted and they didn't really thrive. I am still just using frost cloth when we get a freeze. If I had your greenhouse I'd grow a Meyers lemon, for sure.

I had big hackberry limbs that trashed mine. One small, then a huge one that killed it.

If you can put it where there are not trees over it, that would be great.

I am soooo jealous. I'd have a lot of fun with that. Is electricity available? Maybe a little heater would help during really frigid days.

How exciting! Check and see if your county extention office offers any gardening/plant classes. They usually have master gardeners there who can advise or answer questions. Looking forward to seeing pictures throughout the year!

Love your greenhouse! Wish I could have one, but too many trees here.

A tip for your seed starting: when I sowed seed indoors, I found that a light sprinkling of powdered cinnamon on top worked very well to keep damping-off at bay. Try it and see if it works for you... =)

They're ALIVE! Okay, so they don't look GREAT. But all my broccoli seeds sprouted. I have another tray with cabbages, lettuce, celery and more brocolli. All except the celery has emerged. I have another week before I hit the time that I usually lose all the seedlings, so I will cross my fingers and wait and see if they make it beyond then.
