I feel the two-tone effect of original Eden adds tremendously to her beauty, so no Pretty-in-Pink or White Eden for me. I bought an original Eden and 2 long years later I discovered it was White Eden. Not a bad variety, but just missing the magic of Eden. In your climate Eden probably repeats well, too (it does not in most of the US).

I do already have a regular eden in my garden !

hows abraham darby for you in cal ? i had an own root one that died and im wondering if i should grab it again .

Ben, haha, exactly — that’s what happened to me with White Eden. Given that it was a 6" own-root plant, it took me forever to realize I was actually growing the wrong one. Pink Eden is very lovely, but it hasn’t been very vigorous for me.

I think Abe would be a great choice. Super beautiful and great repeat. I managed to nearly drown mine due to poor drainage, but I think the variety is excellent. Were you once looking for Chianti? DA has it for sale.

I was super bummed…the first year it gave just a few blooms , they were pale but I didn’t give it much thought. It didn’t give a good flush until over 2 years after I planted, and realized it was White Eden. So much wasted time, ugh. The next time I bought Eden I made sure there were correct blooms already on the plant.

sorry for going off topic. Ben how was the blackspot resistance on your eden in texas? I planted two after your shared that gorgeous picture from tour travels and I am wondering if they will be a mess.

I did spray all my roses quite regularily in Texas, and Eden retained most all her foliage. Not sure how she’d be no spray in the South
