looking for suggestions to intrduce an accent wall ( in different color) in the dining area, and what color curtains to put as both living and dining area is connected and both have windows.

I know I definetly need some chages (like this gray carpet will be replaced by cream one)

please help me out. Need suggestions should I go for a accent color (at the back of dining table) or one color for the whole room ( please recommend any neutral color)

You don't use accent walls when you have already installed picture frame molding.

Select a large canvas for the wall. Add a tree in the corner.

thanks so you are saying not to paint the wall with different color and paint the whole room same color, can you please suggest what color curtains to use

Post a close up of the DR rug so we can see the colors in it. Farrow and Ball Bone has a very slight green to it that might be nice with your rug. Maybe color drench the room

A agree with no accent walls. You can introduce some of the light bluish/gray in accent pillows for your living room. I'm showing creamy beige curtains with natural fibre/bamboo roman shades.

Find art that you like and hang 4 frames on the back wall in each section.

Note: it's hard to tell but the moulding should be the same colour as the wall.

I think the color you have compliments your furniture, But, I personally would paint out all the trim the same color, no contrast. You have a natural divide with the wall from the dining to the living room side, I would paint the Dining Room side a deeper tone of the same color. Drapes and blinds on the windows, with the rod high just under the ceiling and extending beyond the window (I would remove the candle/scones in the living room)

I love the patterned rug in the dining room, it compliments the furniture and light fixtures, maybe choose a rich color from the rug to drench the dining room, including the dining room ceiling. Have you ever tried the sofa between the dining room and living room?

even a credenza on the back of the sofa as a buffet for dining service?

with the wooden chairs at the window?

everybody has an idea, it just depends on what you want.

Suggest testing warm whites and be sure to read about their attributes. Be sure to test the shades next to each other and compare at different times of the day. Consider the background shade in DR rug and the color of your LR rug and suggest also painting the molding and baseboards for a less broken up/more modern feel.

If keeping the blinds, look for drapes with the same undertone (if not, work with wall color) and use a black rod to tie in with dining set and your chandelier. Add art that pulls the room together.

I often find that a change leads to other items needing updates and if you’d like/budget allows, create a connection to the LR with black + a bit more color (reference the art). I think a lower lamp would be nicer and a large square coffee table would help tie the seating together a bit more, as they are so far apart.

Please stand at long back wall of dining an show the entirety of the living room we can't see?Thank you!

This you as well? Great room?

What's done is done, but I would redo the middle to ONE box.. Hang art.

Design isn't a please take one from column A, one from B. When you approach it that way, you can arrive at a bit of mish mash. You have a contemporary home; trays ,arches . The room needed decor, but not really any trim or wainscoting ..... both of those better suited to a more classically traditional environment.

People have provided ideas re: these rooms a few times -

    2019:

    Jan 2024:

    Current:

It appears that the only changes have been to the two light fixtures on the ceiling in each room + you added picture molding above the original wainscoting.

Do you really want to change things? You've received suggestions on how to rearrange the furniture in your living room + adding color with accessories (you still have the same accessories - even the same exact throw pillows on the sofa in front of the window). No plants/no drapes/no paint color changes.

I'm just trying to figure out what you really want to do with these two rooms . . .

    ^^ Me too......: )

I'm also trying to figure out where they watch a tv......what is outside? Every photo is a wall of total window coverage.

Just seems the resources are going to the wrong things. It's a boatload of tan paint, I don't understand the great room , which has two, too small rugs, one atop the other. Whatever , a bit confusing.

The choice of an accent wall color largely depends on the homeowner’s temperament and the climate of the region. Is it a warm, sun-filled environment with vibrant natural tones, or a colder one?

100% agree on the wall color. It's unappealing. As far as an accent wall you already did that with the molding. I am so glad you are finally addressing the horrid blinds and planning on hanging curtain panals. This is not a second story apartment you just moved into! If you took pictures with the blinds open we could get a better read on your colors and better suggest curtains.

Your new living and dining room light fixtures are beautiful on their own, but the silvery finish is not congruent with the warm beige tones dominating walls and rugs, as well as the deep wood tones of the dining room furniture. So, you will need to brighten the space with a white paint on the walls, brighter tone rug in living room and no rug in dining room, and accessories adding brightness and reflection, like lamps, a coffee table tray in a matte silvery finish, some bright white flowers.
