photo sharing site?

What's your favourite photo sharing site? I like to put my vacation photos up on a website where friends (or family, or strangers) can see them if they want.......In the past, I've used a few sites (including Google, 500Px, and Flickr), but on several of them, only members could view them, so if I told someone that my vacation photos were on [wherever] and here's a link if they choose, they then found they had to sign in or sign up with the email and information before they could view them. That's precisely what I don't want. I also don't want a group sharing set up, where other people can add photos.

Maybe rules have changed and that's no longer the case, so perhaps I should go back to check......What's your preferred photo sharing site?

Flickr can be set for public or private, I believe it's in the settings under privacy and permissions. I have my account there set for public viewing, but I don't really have many personal photos on that account, it's more a collection of art & graphics.

So many folks use FB and Instagram now, it seems.

I have a friend who is an extremely keen and active birder (weekly excursions locally, regularly travels all over the US and takes at least one trip a year to an exotic foreign destination) who uses Google Photo. I know she has a fairly long list of people she shares her photos with. The weekly stuff is usually at least many dozen photos, often 50 or more. The big trip stuff can be hundreds.

It works very well - she has a mailing group she uses (as a bcc) to send messages with the link. Only people she has granted permission to have access. I don't know if there's a cost to using it or not.

I can't see how Facebook would be a good option for a mixed group or more convenient than sending out an email link. I know more people who DON'T use Facebook than who do. Ditto Instagram. At least as measured by what comes up in conversation from time to time, Facebook doesn't have a great reputation in my area (at least as a company, it's located here).

It’s been a while since I’ve done this, but Shutterfly would allow sharing. You have to create an ’album’ and then send your people an email with the link to the album. They can then create their own account if desired and order prints or save them if allowed.

I do know people who set up a separate FB account, and only invited certain friends to follow, to keep friends posted on their extensive travels. They (She) didn’t post daily (her husband is legally blind), but did so every 3-5 days. It’s been fun to follow their off-the-beaten-path adventures.

I would think probably Facebook for that.
